Mix.. Oil… Ricebran in between.. Olive oil.. For Indian Tal ka tel.. Very costly.
Peanut oli is good for health or not
Go for coconut oil ,full of medium chain fatty acids ,if u are physically active ,it can breakdown to glucose to fuel u up,never go for solvent processed oils
As you all know any type of Oil/Ghee in excess i.e above 1-2 tablespoon a day per person (having high Cholesterol or BP or Obese) is BAD. If you are having any such condition , you should limit intake to 1 tablespoon a day. You can use Good quality Non stick cookware to prepare food or MAKE no Oil meals ( Easily possible with Indian spices) , you won’t even notice the lack of oil (Refer Oil Free Chole (Cheakpea), Dal, Omelette, Veggie Recipes). Add oil free Daal Chilla to your diet instead of Parantha Or make Oil free Parantha OR Tandoori Parantha.
If you want to consume Oil /Ghee, Any Cold press Oil under 1-2 tablespoon a day is good but they all cost Rs500+ per Kg/litre except.
Cold press Oil (Also Known as Extra Virgin Oil) :-
1) Sesame Oil
2) Coconut Oil
3) Groundnut Oil
4) Sunflower Oil
- Not Cold Press but in priority list
1) Ghee
2) Unsalted Butter
Other choice would be First Press Oil (Also known as Virgin Oil) under ₹300 -
1) FIRST PRESS Oil of Sesame Oil , Sunflower Oil, and Groundnut Oil under ₹300
Another choice would be Physically Refined Oil ( Also known as Kachi Ghani) under ₹150 -
1) Mustard Oil.
2) Sunflower Oil
3) Rice Bran Oil
I would recommend have 1 of each Cold OR Press , Ghee and Mustard Oil and use them accordingly.
Never use same Oil Again and Again.
Mix all cooking oil, will get benefit of all in one
Well it’s really hard to which oil is best and which is worst….
You should consume oil in rotation… Irrespective of the branding ….
Also if you get the good deal here is the best oil….
use blended oils if using refined oils otherwise cold pressed oils
Olive oil, Rice Bran, refined sunflower….
Best is Ghee(buffalo than cow), Butter or Cheese.
Second best is Coconut Oil (cold pressed better).
Then comes all these oils.
If you want to read more, then Google poly saturated acids vs mono saturated acids. For more weight loss or health issues please connect with me in PM.
We at our household don’t use oil at all.
We use rice bran oil, better healthy than peanut nd sunflower.
Remove cholesterol
Dear,
Having had this question a few years ago, I believe I can simplify your approach of choosing cooking oil.
Firstly, make sure that the oil source is as local as possible. For eg. coconut – kerala, mustard – punjab etc.. I am not saying that a punjabi must not use coconut oil, rather a punjabi will have easier access to the rawest form of mustard oil. Avoid any oil where the manufacturer claims better quality by mentioning “made from imported bla bla”. Import takes time, to extend shelf life something will be added, you don’t want that. Also, sorry but this means that any kind of olive oil is off the table if you are a desi resident.
Secondly, the following keywords generally indicate healthier oils – extra-virgin, virgin, raw, cold-pressed, filtered, physically-refined. However, such choices depend on the buyer’s budget. Avoid chemically refined oils, they use ammonia, phosphoric/sulphuric acids, TBHQ and what not, you don’t want those.
Thirdly, it is advisable to not use unrefined oils for deep frying. The natural non-fat components in unrefined oils, eg. moisture or solid-microparticles, burn much before the oil reaches boiling temperature and leads to smoking of the oil. Try to use physically-refined oil or atleast double-filtered oil for deep frying.
Fourthly, oil should not be seen as a source of vitamins. If any oil naturally contains certain vitamins, consider it as an add-on benefit. Instead, focus on the total UFA i.e PUFA + MUFA content being as high as possible, meaning SFA as low as possible. Higher the value of MUFA, better and safer for regular consumption.
Do not fall for the keywords like – blended, fortified, active etc.. sab moh maya hai, be as cautious as possible.
Hope this helps.
As this question has resurfaced on desidime, refer to my previous answer..
I think the oil that is used in the “Khayali Pulao” is the best.
Cold pressed oil which ever is your preference
Ankur Ground Nut Oil
Selection of cooking oil really depends on the usage. If you read through those so called ‘subject matter experts’ views on various cooking oil’s, you will not be able to guess which one has health benefits, if at all !!
I suggest to completely avoid few. In my personal opinion, those GMO ones e.g. Canola, those which does not belong to our land e.g. palm/olive etc.
Coconut, Ground nut, Mustard, Sesame, Rice Bran are some of the better ones.
The most important point here is “DO NOT stick to one type or one brand”.
On personal front, we use more ghee than oil.
Coconut oil is the best
Yes in winters I like to apply little bit of mustard oil on my legs and arms, it prevents skin from drying and keeps the body warm.
Although I avoid applying mustard oil on head, face and stomach.
Why avoid on that places any reason?
The oil traditionally used and native to the geographical distribution, should be used. The available oils with in the geographical area should be used alternatively as all are having different content though fight for different deficiency. No need to use vitamin enriched oil if we are incorporating all the vitamins by the way of diversification of food weekly or monthly basis. These oils now a day’s available through different government affiliated SSG shops in my area.
As I am into this industry for quite long, my recommendation is : Mustard Oil that too available in rural areas not the packed ones which are present in super markets. And for deep frying like puri, samosa, khasta and other snacks use desi ghee.
Dude…better go to Baba ramdevvv…..
He will give you pathanjali oil……
…….
Few pointers from my side :
1. Olive oil is just a way to loot money money from customers. Yes it is healthy buy only when consumed directly without heating like in salads.
2. Any raw non refined oil is best. But they are costly. raw Ground nut oil is available online.
3. It is a good practice to change the type of oil we consume every 2 to 3 months. Like we can rotate groundnut, ricebran, mustard etc
I use olive oil and mustard oil mainly. Have heard a lot about coconut oil too. Its the most healthy experts say.
This is the only place where you could find genuine cold pressed oils with very resonable rates.
Once talk to the seller and you would agree with me.
Which oil at what rate .? Website is stopped taking order as per message ok site
Only Mustard Oil
Always use kachhi gani oil and local grown oil.
if you will ask me to rate, here are the same
1) Flex seed oil for north india and coconut oil for south India (non-refined or physically refined)
2) Ricebran oil (non-refined or physically refined)
3) Mustered oil (non-refined or physically refined)
4) Sunflower oil (non-refined or physically refined)
5) Soyabin oil (non-refined or physically refined)
Note – Never never use chemically refined oil because they are using coaltar (alkatra) for processing. And this is causing for cancer and other deseases.
