Why Amazon is better than Flipkart any day (Amazon has become even worse than Flipkart nowadays)

Update : Never expected that Amazon would go to the dogs so soon.

I have bought many mobiles from Flipkart over a period of years. There have been at least 5 instances when the price of the mobile came down (once as high as 1000 bucks) within two or three days of delivery. Not a single time have they compensated it so far in the form of a GV or wallet money. Every time those parrots keep repeating the same old thing… Prices depend on the seller and we cannot do anything about it, blah, blah, blah… Even though the seller has been WSRetail in all these instances. Since I’m not used to persuasive or coercive talking, I just listen to this sh!t and cut the call.
Had this been Amazon, things would happen exactly the opposite way. If Both Amazon and Flipkart continue with what they are doing, I’m sure Flipkart will be watered down by Amazon very soon.
Mark my words, Flipkart: “Your days are numbered!” https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_evil.gif

So amazon (india) refunded you the excess amount any time in the past ?

Added to that Flipkart’s return policy is very unreliable now and that’s why I stopped making high value purchase on Flipkart unless it’s exclusive to flipkart.

I love the price match and price guarantee feature in US. Last April when I was in US Google had a deal on Moto 360 which was being offered for $149 whereas it was priced at $199 at Best Buy, me and my brother just walked into a Best Buy store and showed them the deal on Google Play, the cashier just matched the price and gave it for $149.

I think once the e-commerce situation matures further in India we will see such implementations in place here too.

Bought a mobile from Amazon last week at 11,999. Price came down to 10,999 within 24 hrs of delivery of my order. But they refused to entertain any requests from my side.

By the way, if you are dealing with incompetent people it doesn’t matter how persuasive you are as all they do is to go by the guidelines set. Amazon has years of experience across boundaries and cultures, this is immensely helpful for them.

K4 note? Why not just tell them that you need a replacement for xyz reason? Amazon is mostly providing a refund than replacement of late.

Yes, once for a laptop bag and then for a usb mouse. I’ve bought only one mobile from Amazon so far and the price remained the same for a long time. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

I got Rs.250 back in the case of a laptop bag when I got in touch with their chat rep. It also depends a lot on the particular rep at the other end. Try getting in touch with them again. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

I did no jugaad. I put it very straightforward and they immediately obliged. May not work after a week’s time of delivery, though. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

Good to know! I got a shampoo recently for Rs. 175 but I realised that the MRP was Rs. 115 after it got delivered. When I talked to Amazon CC they immediately issues a GC worth Rs. 60 to my account.

That’s not just based on this GV issue. Flipkart has changed for worse in many respects. Not friendly towards customers at all.

It won’t happen because even in US all those price matching would be phased out eventually. Even Amazon.com which used to provide price match for decreased prices on their website has stopped doing it.

@Magus ultimately the ‘culture’ is but what ‘humans’ make it.
when at leisure to do so, read the quote of a deleted comment of some dvdXYZ fellow http://www.desidime.com/forums/hot-deals-online...
or same bloke’s comment here http://www.desidime.com/forums/hot-deals-online...
or of a @Crook who too spoke of Lalaji (family owned/ family managed) culture http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...

you have to appreciate the fact that (appreciate as in → to appreciate a problem is to solve it by 50% wala appreciate)

you have to appreciate the fact that Indians do not like to trust others in money matters or completely delegate work (abki baar Magus sarkar)
it is like they (person or family) are everything .

so FOSL is no different in that, only IITians or ‘apna aadmi’ culture percolates from top and the organisation remain a
‘family driven’ organisation with mistrust being at its core.

they will NOT and can not trust: their employees, their top management, their vendors, their customers

and the typical ‘cutting corners’ aka jugaad thing that we Indians patented too rules in such places.

about Amazon, you may clarify to Achi (if you want to) in pvt. pr in open if Amazon ever gave that ‘wow’ goodwill geture.

of what I know:
they and many MANY other sites in their home market have this stated policy to give the price guarantee for 10-15 days. (it definitely must have been spoken of on DD too earlier).

of what i deduced and a senior Amazon rep. once frankly told, with the twisted rules of our country putting them through numerous compliance issues, they (a foreign co.) can NOT do certain things, sell directly to retail consumers

the way they do in say, America.

in this whole observation of yours, I also have to say that the screening processes of most Indian portals and the ‘humans’ employed by them are essentially not yet evo;ved and are ‘apes’. so that too affects things a lot. they are not of the same mental finesse as say Amazon hires.
the training and authority too is less.

the ‘but why we should pay from our pockets’ mistrusting mentality of a cash starved entity prevails;
because they know perfectly well that in the numbers game, in India it still makes better sense to add sellers/products that may be excrements but will still sell like hot (gobar) cakes.

@Magus

it can depend from one individual to another, but they do try to follow the .. avoid policy exceptions rules unless it is an absolute must or the customer account or person looks clean/ good (worthy) to incur the costs to retain.

as my essay (as people call it https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif ) above mentioned, the downward price protection guarantee is a pretty standard and in black and white in their home market for select goods and select sellers.

Here, they completely try to avoid it on products with wafer thin margins or whose value depreciates fast.. electronics being one such category.

and for internal and external compliances; NO match is usually offer to special promotions items in case of mistakes by us (say; Lightening deal products, forget about size exchange etcetera for apparels, shoes)

major edit: @Magus sadlol! s#¡t man, i just saw you put my name for CM sir’s query. déjà vu

remove it if you want and then let cm4444 sir tell you (in pvt) of the reasons he has utter disgust (of sorts) for me.

also; how did you know https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_eek.gif of it or did i ever slip it to you that I once helped guided _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ get an upward price match for the iPad (it was a data entry error/ listing error where a 4-5000INR tab was titled as an iPad)
karma is a beach though, for _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ is serving in Infy to pay for his adventures off another Murthy company. [omit: that tab seller wasn’t Cloudtail]

@cm4444 in electronics it gets a tad tough and only a stretched negotiation interspersed with emotional drama is ones weapon.
but as recently as last night, I was stupid (or if you want: an unethical Crook) enough to order a Vinod brand 250 mm anodized tawa at 572Rs without realising that i was not checking out on the 477INR lightening deal.

at 0400 hours, after realising this and calling 180030009009 all i did was to ask them what (if at all) could Amazon or Mr. So and So do to help me out of my misery (stupid mistake). the whole call duration is 06 minutes 10 seconds including the IVR and wait after connecting. He simply repeated the ‘as a one time policy exception’ script and ‘live’ added 100INR worth GC.
in effect the tawa would arrive at a cost that is 5Rs less than the Lightening Deal <a href=“http://cdn1.desidi...omhttps://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor..." alt=“redface” border=“0”/>"><img src=“http://cdn1.desidi...omhttps://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor..." alt=“redface” border=“0”/>">

AND NO! my account is NOT remunerative to Amazon or the sellers. most of my recent orders have a refund or ToA GC (i do not like using 3years old Deo or Nivea creme).
that was like 180-190 (deo) + 150×2 for the Nivea as refund.

@Magus love and hate are pretty intense feeling which an emotional dead sociopath like me might be incapable but i am indeed ‘scared’ of transacting with them or their siblings like ShopC, tradus, paytm.
I avoid them.
.
.

.

They are whimsical, they are unprofessional but the worse is their lack of systems or processes (first Big Boring Day crash was just an example)
let vikasgupta09 (or @Achilles) share with you other example/s http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t... . . . . VikasG

theek hai i can live without ordering gifts or phones that are exclusive on Flipkart or paying a slightly higher price financially, than by paying it with my peace.

I agree with you that Amazon is miles ahead than FK. FK has been under tremendous pressure off late from investors to cut costs to improve bottom lines. Unfortunately, the measures they took to cut the costs has been customer/seller unfriendly. For instance, 30 days replacement policy has been reduced to 10 days. Seller commission increased by multi folds. They have also started to outsource call center operations to unreliable companies. The other day someone mentioned that FK call center outsourced staff’s are paid 6-8k as wages in Bangalore https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_eek.gif Even telcos pays better to their call center staffs. Amazon on the other hand has solid return policy and most of their support staff are in house with excellent wages..

I believe investors have clearly told FK that they won’t be pouring in any more funds. FK days are numbered and investors are probably waiting for a bakra who could buy FK.

it is really disappointing that a startup i once loved/admired the most has gone to the dogs. I was one of the earliest customers of FK. Their support staff back then used to be polished, well spoken and very professional . I mean the kind of service FK provided during initial days reminded me of Singalore airlines staff. I have only placed 2 orders with FK in the past 1 year. On the other hand, my Amazon order history reads 39 orders in last 6 months. That says it all https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif
