Hi, I am noticing that Myntra and Jabong charging higher shipping rate for any purchase like ₹150 and heavy GST tax comparing to other portals. Is this good? is govt can’t take any rules to control the unreasonable charges? ( new user getting free shipping)..

Unhe lagta hai janta murkh hai.

Price kam kr dete hai aur baki ki amount GST ur shipping me add kr dete hai.

Wo log price kam krte hai q ki unko traffic mile aur wo seller se jada paisa le sake

Can you post your allegations with some proof?

There are 2 part of your inconveniences with these stores.
1. Higher shipping rate.
2. Higher GST.

Let’s talk about shipping.
First of all, they can charge any shipping rate they want. Govt don’t have any say in it. In fact, 150 rs shipping in not uncommon in fashion stores. Many fashion e-commerce stores charge 150 rs shipping rate. But they also give you an option to get free shipping when your order total crosses certain limit. Finally, if you don’t like their shipping rate then don’t order from them. As simple as that.

Why Amazon & Flipkart has lower shipping rate. Because they are not mainly focused on fashion products and they also sell low priced items like books, groceries, stationary and daily use items so they have to keep the shipping low.

Now, let’s talk about higher GST.
Provide some proof that they are charging higher shipping.

I just checked my recent order history on Amazon and Myntra. They both are charging 5% GST on clothes.

Here is an order from Amazon. 5% GST.

Here I have added one product in the cart on Myntra. 1699-1190=509 rs. And 25 is ~5% of 509. So 5% GST.

The only difference between Myntra/Jabong and Amazon/Flipkart is that Myntra/Jabong is showing GST separately in the cart and Amazon/Flipkart has already included it in the display price of the product but they do show it separately in the invoice.

I don’t order from Myntra/Jabong very often because I find there prices significantly (10-20%) more than other places. If I have an option to order same jeans from Myntra/Jabong or Amazon/Flipkart then I will always go with the store whoever provides more value. Usually it’s Amazon because of their million offers and cashback schemes.
