Why RuPay card not support on Netflix, Paypal, Google, youtube, Erosnow etc (here is the answer):

Many of you always want to know why RuPay cards not support on Netflix, Paypal, Google, youtube, Erosnow etc websites?

the reason is RuPay cards currently not support “recurring payments” or “Standing Instructions”.

if you dnt know what is “recurring payments” or “Standing Instructions” then in short you need to know All subscription-based websites need one time your visa/mastercard otp and every month they auto debit their monthly plan amount from your bank account without need of your visa/mastercard otp

“This feature would have enabled customers to issue a onetime mandate to make recurring payments for periodic services rendered from merchants. The use cases for this would have been automatic payments of monthly bills and subscription-based services,”

citing concerns of possible misuse, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) left this feature on RuPay cards.

RBI scrapped the feature because it felt the technology could be misused by unregulated operators to widen their credit network using pyramid schemes and chit funds.

Cards must be enabled for recurring e-commerce transactions to work with Netflix.

All subscription based websites need “recurring payments” or “Standing Instructions” e-commerce transactions cards

PayPal earlier also need “recurring payments” card to work on International transaction but now PayPal launch in India, hope PayPal will support RuPay card for domestic transaction in future without need of “recurring enabled”.

Tag your Bank & RuPay card or NPCI on twitter page and suggested them to enabled “recurring payments” or “Standing Instructions” on All RuPay Credit Cards & some selected banks RuPay debit cards.

currently not possible because RuPay cards not support “recurring payments” or “Standing Instructions”.

but BOB Visa/mastercard debit card also not supported “recurring payments” or “Standing Instructions”.

only selected banks like ICICI, Kotak, HDFC, CITI bank debit cards and All Visa/mastercard Credit cards supported “recurring payments” or “Standing Instructions”.

Tag RuPay card or NPCI on twitter page and suggested them to enabled “recurring payments” or “Standing Instructions” on All RuPay Credit Cards & some selected banks RuPay debit cards.

I don’t like or support this feature since its often misused. If this is a problem in the west it would be more like a nightmare in places like india. Companies very often misuse this feature. Even including GOOGLE!!!! They charged me rs130 for their google one which was supposed to be a 6 month free and even cancelling it the same day, never got a refund.

If Netflix don’t want some of us as customers because of this, that’s too bad, guess we will spend the money at some place else..

yes, but All subscription based websites have some loopholes like Netflix support only “recurring payments” visa/mastercards but visa/mastercards ecommerce transaction enabled. so All other “non-recurring payments” visa/mastercards also worked.

infact earlier Visa/mastercard Prepaid & Gift cards also worked on netflix.

some merchants have restriction on selected banks like HDFC bank debit/credit cards will work for “recurring payments” but still HDFC bank Prepaid & Gift cards also worked.

if some RuPay credit cards & some selected banks RuPay debit cards enabled for “recurring payments” and netflix will add RuPay cards payments then all other banks “non-recurring payments” RuPay cards also worked but yes merchants cannot deduct money from your account because your card not support for “recurring payments”, so your subscription will cancelled.

They should leave that choice to customer. Those who are willing to take risk, they should let them opt in.

hmm. currently RBI also not allowed “recurring payments” on UPI version 2.0

UPI version 2.0 support “recurring payments”.

SBI, ICICI, Axis bank are already requested to RBI, enabled recurring payments feature in UPI 2.0

UPI version 2.0 will launch within few months or end of 2019.

If RBI allowed "recurring payments” on UPI version 2.0 then atleast we get UPI option on Google Play store, youtube, netflix, amazon auto balance-load etc.

its supposedly a feature. But you go to rent a car and they charge your card but its not really charged, they charge it after you return the car and the charge will depend on how much you used the car.

Now this is a great feature since otherwise you would have to wait until they checked the car and charged you etc and this most likely happens at the air port and you want to check in.

But many others abuse this feature. I would say all of them abuse it. You can call the card company and refute the charges and they will cancel the charges etc.. But try that in india. Like I said above, google charged me by making me sign up using a 6 month free trial option and instantly charged me, how to get that money back? And this was using an OTP, supposedly the OTP was only to link the card. imagine the nightmare where you get charged every month or year for decades.. You would have to go through statements and figure out who charged what and why and then follow it up.

I never bother signing up with any recurring payments. Either I sign up for a month and instantly go cancel it or try some other way or don’t use it. But like I mentioned above sometimes you have no choice.. But if car rental companies can allow you to pay cash.. Not all of them but some do.. I use those.. Its a nice feature and all that but I seen the abuse.

driving is unsafe too. But here we r, we still drive. Visa n mastercard, already provides this service, they let u enable or disable it. I think if rupay have to be Desi alternative, they should provide the same service. And let their customers choose instead of deciding for them.

Yea well if every time you took the car out and someone rammed into you and totaled your car you would feel differently.. This actually happened to a friend of mine and the insurance company cancelled his policy and it happened so often that he found it very difficult to get car insurance. He lost like 3 cars in the space of just over an year. The others were minor but if you have not noticed, getting a new car fixed these days costs more than half the price of a new car.

Tell him about the dangers of driving.. Oh yea from what I saw, none of the accidents were his fault. 2 of the accidents were people running red lights and running into him. The other was the guy making a left turn without slowing down or looking trying to get ahead of a signal about to turn into a red light and smacked right into the side as both were making left turns from different areas. The insurance companies should have understood that since none of the accidents were his fault.

If you have HDFC RuPay International card then activate for International ecommerce transaction from bank, HDFC net banking or HDFC mobile banking app.

PayPal website selected “Discover card” and add your RuPay card.

PayPal will accept discover card? It was the second card I got after diners but no one accepted either of them anywhere. I keep seeing diners card being mentioned and lots of offers but who accepts it? I had it for over 5 years and did not find a single place that accepted it. Discover could be used at sears and no where else. I only kept either of them to improve my credit score and dropped them when I got my first visa card.

Paypal accept RuPay International card through Discover card network.

dnt know about Diners club card work on Discover card network on PayPal or not.

Diners club cards work on RuPay card network in India on POS terminals.

if RuPay card support on POS machine then Diners club cards also worked.

97% POS terminals in India support RuPay cards.

Ah okay then RuPay card is part of Diners club. I was wondering how they were able to scale up so fast. I think Diners is now accepted in the middle east and it was accepted mainly in Europe before. The free markets are not really free.

Even though discover charged 2% compared to 4% for visa no one used them for some reason. I also got a amaco card and that was useful since you could use it to buy petrol, if one don’t know, once you use a particular brand of petrol in a new car you have to keep using the same brand and same type for ever pretty much and it does make a difference, I once pumped from chevron and thought my car had engine trouble. Have not seen anyone even think twice about where they pump petrol from here.

Until visa bought out mastercard, that was also not accepted at many places. If nothing else Indians should give preference to RuPay card than the others. visa profits were over $30,000 Million.. So they don’t really need the money.

So if I travel to China I can use RuPay card to pay for stuff? I know visa helped save a lot of time trying to find local currencies and currency exchanges. Also many kiosks only take cards and not currency and don’t even have any people around. Like at airports to take a trolley or on the plane to make a phone call. Using a card saves you not only money but hassles as well. Like many hotels in India charge you double and sometimes even more if you pay them with $$$ so pay with rs with a Visa because if they type in $$$ they use the $$$ rates and not RS rates. But if Visa ever cancels transactions like they did in Russia, Iran, Syria. etc then you are stuck. Which is why local cards are a must. Although once Indian airlines said no seats available unless I pay with $$$.

yes, you need a RuPay International card which works on UnionPay & Discover/diners club POS machine & ATM in China and also chinese Ecomm websites through discover card network.

In Japan, Its work through JCB card & Discover/diners club card network.

Singapore, works through NETS network POS/ATM & Discover/diners club card network.

USA & Europe RuPay International card work through Discover, Diners club & Pulse network ATM, POS & Ecomm.

same like 31% foreigners visit in India every year (unionpay, jcb, discover, diners club, Nets) access RuPay card network in India.

one more update:

Therefore, with effect from 1st June 2019 member Banks are requested to deploy any new “Ingenico” make of POS terminals with updated “Kernel Version 5.38 and 8.38”.

latest Kernel Version 5.38 and 8.38 support RuPay NCMC Contactless cards & RuPav International Card Affiliates acceptance on all NFC based POS terminals.
