Basically one needs to re-verify all wallets with “genuine ID number”(at least format should be correct,no random string) after which it will have unlimited validity & not like current 1 year validity which is getting extended by rbi for last yew years. smile Also linked phone number must be Indian so say goodbye to all those amazon pay wallets created using US/disposable online numbers. Also new limits are: max 10k per transaction/day/month & it is absolute aka you can’t credit more than 10k in a month & you can’t debit more than 10k in a month.

The limits are for semi-closed PPI (pre-paid instrument) which are those that can be used at 3rd party sites too(e.g.amazon pay, paytm, mobikwik can be used outside of amazon, paytm, mobikwik site like on swiggy, zomato etc). I don’t think FK gift card can be used anywhere outside of FK so this limit should not apply.

    https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/wealth/per...

A PPI can be used to buy goods and services as well as transferring/sending money to a friend, family, etc. Some of the prominent PPIs include Paytm, Mobikwik (semi-closed system PPIs), Gift card (closed system PPIs), Travel/Debit/credit cards (open system PPIs).
The RBI rules for such PPIs state that:
    1. Bank and non-banks are permitted to issue semi closed PPIs for up to Rs 10,000 after obtaining minimum details of the PPI holder.
