I recently paid around 300 for a 250ml bottle at a local store so this is a loot for me. But I hear you. I have noticed a drastic increase in the price of olive oils since I have moved back to India. The importers or the producers have probably colluded to make it this way.

Yes. People use it. But for common people you may understand. It’s premium of course.

Any oil once you boil and give tadka:-} loses it’s nutrients. Unless you use it raw like on salads, then only go for this.
Otherwise any refined oil is good to go.

“Loses its nutrients” — yes, to certain extent. EVOO is not good for deep frying because of its low “smoke point”. For those purposes, one should use ghee or peanut oil.
