Don’t go for hero or herces if you want to go for long rides.
Go for btwin, montra or firefox
Hero and hercules would ware down after 6 months or so. I owned a hercules topgear for an year and it started to rust even when I kept it inside my house.
If you are looking to get back to cycling, the best budget bike on date is Montra Downtown(I own this). This would cost you around 12k. Local shops offfer better discounts so don’t buy online.
No one was there to advice me when i bought hercules.

Some models have spring-type suspension. Does it really help?
AFAIK, the MTB type suspension is good if you’re going to do off roading a lot. But if you’re only going to ride in roads, the springs actually drain the energy you put into pedaling and waste more energy compared to non spring ones. That’s why if you see cycles marked for city riding, they rarely have spring suspension.
hey how to self assemble? should I buy pump also?

I did self assembly of my Mach city ibike today- it came in 90% assembled condition. Need to only fit front tyre, seat, pedals, handle bar, seat and accessories like mud guards, reflector, etc. No assembly instructions are included though. If you can handle tools, should be straight forward to assemble – took me around an hour. Tools are included, you might need a screw driver additionally. Pump is definitely needed.

Did you try pumping air? It’s flat even after putting air? If so, raise a complaint with Flipkart. Generally warranty is also there for tyres – 6 months for BSA/Hercules/Mach city. So even if Flipkart doesn’t help, you should be able to claim warranty from the company.
Btw, mine came without one front brake shoe. Need to see what to do.
