Hello Everyone,
Its time when we award those who continuously contribute in forum.
Just like every year we want to give away special badges to those Dimers who have contributed the most or in a special way. We want to award those who have constantly been sharing deals & coupons, who have gone out of their way to help others, who have actively participated in forum discussions, who have helped others save more with their reviews & analysis and for those who have helped us grow and build a stronger shopping community.
We would like each Dimer to come forward and share their votes for those Dimers whom they think have added value to this community.
Each of you can nominate 3 people for each title by posting in this thread and then our team will review each nomination closely and declare the badge winners. Self-nominations will not be considered.
DealHunter - Finds and posts unique deals always.
Entertainer - Entertains everyone. Witty.
CouponBaba - Good knowledge about coupons. Can easily figure out which coupon can be applied on a specific deal to get the most benefit. Also gives away coupons.
Perfectionist - Very systematic. Does their job at Full Perfection.
Analyst - Keen observation. Analyses and combine options to make the deals even more cheaper than what is posted.
Blogger - Has a good potential to write stuff.
Critic - Actively comments on deals judging the various aspects to core and so professionally. He may also have an unfavorable opinion most of the times but backs it up with solid logic/reasoning.
Shopping Friend - Extremely helpful person. Guides those who are new at shopping. Might even help someone who is in dire need of a coupon.
DealBaba - Good knowledge about deals. Can get u the best offer. Gives valuable advice to shoppers.
Budding Star - Has contributed hugely to the community and have become an all-rounder in a short span of time.
Deal Legend - Extremely famous for sharing the best deals. Very consistent.
Community Angel - Always helps others. Has shown exemplary conduct or virtue towards the community.
Coupon Hunter - Finds and posts unique coupons always.
Tech Guru - Expert in or enthusiastic about technology.
Mobile Guru - Has in-depth knowledge of mobiles and its features.
Dimer of The Year 2019 - Shown extraordinary improvement over the year in various aspects. Can be an all-rounder.

Congratulations everyone. We will be adding 100 dimes for each badge holder. and soon we will add badges to all winners.
Also every year we have certain dimers who hold on to their badges, they live upto it and do even better. For those Dimers we are going to award “Pro” tag. For example a dimer who was entertainer in 2018 and won again in 2019 then he will get “Pro Entertainer” badge, same applies to all other badges.

Interesting to see how DD team will calculate whose name got mentioned most times and that too without comments having a proper/strict format. It will be helpful if you share the process/algorithm in words atleast if not code (if it’s not an issue).
If I have to guess it will be….. Just parse all the words from comments , preprocess it to remove special characters (so that hyphen or colon etc. are gone after the title name, for example, Perfectionist: bumblefoot) Now just match the words with title name and see if the next word to the title name is indeed a user’s name.
To see if the next word is someones username, we need to have a list of all users in dictionary order, so that a simple binary search like Algo on strings can find it in log n time instead of searching whole list of all members in this huge community 1 by 1.
Now we have to add the score of that user for that particular award/title by 1 each time his/her name is mentioned.
So we need to maintain another list for all awards.
And we can increment the score by 1 for that user in that particular award list.
It would be much more complex as we have to keep checking all words till next title name are words and increase all their score for that title by 1 and such things which you guys ofcourse have huge experience while running a big community like this…….
I would just like to know if my idea is correct. It would help in somebody’s resume as a project.
