Yes it will work on bifocal lenses too. And, yes if you want to buy a frame with both near and far vision then better go for progressive rather than bifocal.
A small explanation to justify my statement :-
No doubt under this offer you can go for eyeglasses with Bifocal lens and with some add on you can have an eyeglass of good quality in Rs 1000 only but bifocals have many limitations and is dangerous for old people. Because of the “Jumping Effect”, it makes almost impossible to walk on stairs without stumbling or even falling. While driving also its too dangerous to wear eyeglasses with bifocals.

But, all these limitations are removed in progressive.
One can use stairs as a normal person without any jumping effect and no issues with driving or in Sun. Yes no doubt it takes a little bit of time for the person to switch from Bifocals to Progressive. For some it may take only 2-3 days and for some it may take 2 weeks. But the end result is sweet and thats what matters.

Now, if you go and have a look at the local optician shops you will find that you can have a progressive eyeglass as low as 1500 but it has many demerits. Doctors dont recommend to buy from local stores coz the power is not distributed as perfectly as it should be and can have adverse effect on your eye in the long run.

Which makes us to go for branded ones, and there’s the price starts to steep. Very basic progressive lens only is about 2200-2500 and it can go up to 100000 or so. The price doesnt matter, the quality does and even the basic one is far better than the local optician shop’s sell. So after adding a frame price, the total cost may come to around 2700-3000.
