This is an AC router. N900 is inferior.
On N900 you get 450 Mbps on 2.4Ghz and 450 on 5Ghz
With this you can get 867 Mbps on 5Ghz

I don’t have this router. I have a Netgear WNDR4700 and run 2 laptops 3 phones and a TV (Sometimes simultaneously).
So don’t fret. Modern routers can easily handle more than 10 devices
You’ll require a separate modem.

Depends on what you want out of it.
Network LAN transfers will see massive improvement. Internet maybe a little bit due to faster processor and better range. 8Mbps is lot less than the capability of 300mbps of the router (excluding overheads in wireless transmission).
If you experience router restarting automatically, due to overload, that may not happen anymore.
Someone who has this router may be better able to comment on the range and actual performance

Jitna per pasaro utni chadder chaiye hoti h https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif It may not be a need if all you do is surf internet. So you’re good with Tplink you own which has great value for money. I bought an expensive router because my router has a HDD slot in it in which I’ve put a 1 TB drive. So I get a huge wireless pendrive in my house which can be accessed by my tv, and all my computers simultaneously.
I download torrent using my router which straightaway downloads in the internal HDD. I don’t have to keep my computer on. Apart from that, router mbps don’t matter for internet in India. In US where google fiber gives you 1 Gbps line, THERE the router becomes a bottleneck than your ISP.

Well I know about that dd wrt system downloading directly to hdd.. But never knew of accesing it wirelessly everywhere.. But I guess you can store public data there.. No private data..as other mobile/tv user may also access it. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_biggrin.gif

Not really. You can set a password on the drive. And even create separate portions on the drive with separate passwords. So you can still keep your personal stuff ahem ahem for your eyes only.

@jitz
Getting all the networking setup is not easy I’d say and setting up network storage and torrent downloader does require it’s fair share of networking and computer skills.
If all you want is to use a hard drive wirelessly, I’d recommend a simple router with a USB port (which is usually for hard drives and in some cases supports a printer too!). Just connect an external drive that you may already have. But again, it may not be a one click process, you’ll have to enter the router settings and make modifications there. You’ll probably not get the torrent downloading part. But can use the drive wirelessly. Est budget: 2-5k

The ultimate solution is to get a good gigabit router and a single or double bay NAS (which lets you insert hard drives in it’s bays). Both of them are interconnected using Ethernet. Max performance. Max features. Est Budget: Rs 15-20k

I chose the midway by buying WNDR4700 which has a single slot for HDD and is a router. Hence less clutter. But not as powerful as a dedicated NAS. Still fits my needs. It gives 20-22 MBps file transfer from HDD on wireless connection which to me is great. I got it for 7k from ebay US (so no warrantee of course)

simple thing for torrent downloading is buy simple tenda n4, buy some chinese windows tablet or windows pc stick and you will have 24 hr torrent download, wieless hdd sharing, wndows through teamviewer on all devices. dumb people waste money on such high powered routers.
there is no broadband provider with moe than 20 mbps speed in india. also no one probably stream 50gb blue ray movie over wireless hdd. if someone doing it he is moron.
dont waste money just because of offer.

Don’t upgrade. Buy a DIR 506L for around 1200 and configure as a hotspot around bad coverage areas. This router will NOT increase your ISP speeds. However if you need Gigabit Ethernet for local streaming or file transfer, go for the cheaper one (another FPD on Croma) for Rs. 2k only.
