Unlike us Indians, UK, US and many other countries dont have any flag code and some even go so far as to condemn prosecution of anyone burning the flag. Its alright, being an Indian, to feel wrong doing this, but people there can desecrate and deface their flag during protests without any consequences whatsoever.

That’s probably just the “American-ism” 
. I’ve seen people from other similarly-clean countries equally shocked to see this shoes-on-bed portrayal in popular media.

Yep, I think people from most other countries do take objection to the American culture of shoes-on-chairs-and-bed. I still remember that one of my college professors in the US, who was from India, pulled his hair and threw tantrums almost every day in class about Americans kids putting their feet on top of the chairs in front of them.
So, let me be clear, this is not a fake portrayal by the media. It’s the reality there, especially among young people.
