I’d to go home, i said lets go to Taj and check out the Mont Blanc store then you drop me mid-way.

ended up making him pay 14-15000 for 4 Mont Blanc pens from his own card (he could claim from our office later).
and later placed an order for 8 or 9 more.

..People look at the price 4000 5000 6000.
but for a true enthusiast or anyone who used good fountain pens, such exquisite pieces are examples of great craftsmanship and not just ‘writing instrument’.

i voted up an off-beat share after seeing @rajasekharstrikes tag.
now if you only call it a fake offer then its like, you want your posts not to be made live. DD should have the option of making moderation dis-approved status back for dimers like samganda or in this case..

as for the absolute price. well it isn’t to be looked at in layman’s eyes.
if you know, (what came to be known in English as) Monalisa remained in the unkempt and discarded part of the museum till one day it was part of the things stolen.

and THAT is when it suddenly caught eye of the art frat and became ‘priceless’.

though these are called pens, these are all art pieces. I have personally seen, touched one such hand made nib alone which sold for 1900 or so in India. i think it was Montegrappa. [i forgot but it was a workshop and senior craftsman from Europe had been called in by some brand.. either Sheaffer or Cross. i was lucky to know some guy who used to work at Crossroads (a dysfunct Mumbai mall) who let me tag along in that even where people brought in their collection for repair or service)

if not a mass-marketed piece (as in if it were just one of the 300-400 ever made) then 7-8000 is very cheap in relative comparison
have personally used (not owned) Mont Blanc and owned and regularly used a Cross and a Sheaffer.
Pelikan and Steadtler are two names, though less known are great makers of pens and pencils too. personally still recollect how Rotring, Steadtler pencils used to be a must if i were organising my things for the exams next day.
