A 4 years old 3rd/4th gen core i3 laptop with ssd will run win 10 much faster than a 2019 model 8th gen core i7 laptop with hdd.

256 gb ssd is enough for boot drive.

ssd is like tea leaves bigger the size better quality reliability.

Samsung is technology leader when it comes to SSD. go for it.

don’t partition ssd.

leave 10% space for maintenance via magician software.

comes with 5yrs warranty.

good to go.

Those were old days, nowadays many good options available.Crucial MX500 series is almost as good as samsung 860 evo with less price & now Crucial also has official service centres in India(kaizen info, same one which handles corsair rma). For NVMe,Adata SX8200 pro series is again almost as good as samsung 970 evo with much lesser price.

Two things, never buy ssd and hdd online, you can always get cheaper offline,
Secondly, its speed(the link that is montioned) is lower than what we can get cheaper offline.

Not always especially if you live in some small/tier-II/III city.I do agree with not buying hdd online though as I don’t trust handling of hdd by courier companies. As for speeds, that depends on a lot of factors but as long as it has good reviews by reputed tech sites like tomshardware, anadtech etc it is more than enough for any typical user.

Yes we have to go a little far to get a good market offline. But once you get to know the offline rates, you will never buy online again hdd and sdd

Thats where you are wrong buddy, SSD will make booting fast (almost within 8-10 seconds), but it wont make pc faster. SSD can not make processor faster. So all calculations will still be slow, just load time will be super fast, be it OS, program or game load time.

Note: I am using crucial MX500 500 GB SSD from last 1 year. My laptop boot time is just few seconds (around 7-8 seconds) even with many auto start programs.

Everyone pls note… The above discussion, mostly, is going on for internal drives, whereas this particular deal is actually for an external ssd, not internal.

PS: This was just for information in case some people might confused. Please continue the discussion, it’ll give some good outcomes for all. Thank you.

I am not wrong. In a laptop with hdd & any latest core i3/i5/i7 processor open task manager & then see your processor usage/ram usage & hdd usage.Processor indeed calculates but you are forgetting that it is hdd that is the source for all calculations done by processor. When you double click on anything then it starts by loading data from hdd into ram where it gets “calculated” by processor. Imagine a Ferrai on an Indian village mud road,no matter how powerful its engine is it cannot run fast because road is simply not good enough to provide the required factors. Processor’s power comes into play when you do some cpu intensive task like video encoding/converting/photo editing etc but for typical usage a ssd improves overall performance of a pc much more than processor/ram upgrade.

I hope you are not saying this based on amazon/fk prices because for most pc components they are overpriced.Always compare online prices of pc components on sites like primeabgb, mdcomputers, vedantcomputers, theitdepot, onlyssd(ssd selling division of primeabgb).

Hehe the later sites you mentioned, I never heard of them, just telling you the price difference of on sale ssd and hdd on Amazon/Flipkart and in offline shop. You will see a major difference.
This deepawli I am gonna see offline stores for mobiles, and gonna find out what they have to offer better than online or they are same.

Is it worth it? The answer to the question is it depends. Instead of buying an external SSD, you can invest for internal ones. It speeds up everything. For data storage I believe 7200rpm ones are more than enough. You ll get more GB per thousand rupees investment. If you want longevity go for 5400rpm ones but I still believe slow performance is not worth the price discount you gonna get. I have an eleven year old Hitachi 5400 rpm drive which still works just fine. 🙂

hello brother,

i stay in delhi and goto nehru place many times to buy components, but the price online is much cheaper – last i bough 4gb ram from nehru place for 2400 and the same is available at 1600 online – for SSD too i got 256gb (m slot) for 2.7k online, but could not find offline stores less than 3.5k

i roamed a lot for laptop, and i was getting i3 offline for same rate as i5 online.

so overall i feel rates online are much better with my experience, though i worked hard offline to get stuff but never matched online price.
