If you are looking for a home loan or looking for home loan takeover, then SBI is best. Other banks might provide you better service & also match the interest rates of SBI but they will charge for other different things like processing fee, legal report fees, valuation fees, closure of loan penalty fees. AFAIK SBI have very minimal charges & also no penalty on early closure of loans. Small things also matter as they unknowingly make a huge amount of extra charges when combined. You might not get better service, might be delayed but it is safe & accountable. Don’t expect offers from govt banks like SBI as they already provide loans at less interest than private banks because the offers provided to you by private banks will be recovered in a different way by them if you are not careful enough about their T&C’s.
