Make sure you read their forums before buying one.
https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-HR/bd-p/...
One of them on amazon.com quoted this,
“Check the Fitbit Forums for Charge HR info. I’ve had several fitbits, the ultra, flex and now this Charge HR. It is absolutely horrible for tracking heart rate during exercise. It cannot track heart rate during interval exercising it just will not work. It won’t even work during my Barre exercise class. I am extremely disappointed. If you do go into the forums there are hundreds of people complaining about this. So if you are a very very light exerciser who keeps their heart rate at around the same level the entire time then you may be okay.”

ok he seems to be fan of fit bit though since he has multiple fit bit trackers and I myself have one and I am satisfied with performance.

That’s the issue with any optical heart rate sensors, be it the apple watch or the moto 360 or fitbit. If you are looking for accurate measurements of heart rate for high intensity workouts then a chest strap is the best option one has. I was using my Apple Watch till last month and I had a similar issue when I do weights and other high intensity workouts but for me tracking heart rate during cardio was all I needed because my heart rate goes abnormally high quite rapidly and I need to ensure to cut down the speed depending on heart rate.
I used a FitBit One, Jawbone UP24, Xiaomi Mi Band, Apple Watch and Moto 360 till date. In terms of hardware for tracking the steps I would rate Apple Watch and Fitbit to be the best, battery life Mi Band undoubtedly but too basic so Fitibit is my goto device, software Jawbone has by far the best software that integrated food data and peer group data well and has lots of third party add ons internally. One more advantage with Jawbone app is it makes it lot more interactive and fun to boost you to workout more.
Overall, if I were to pickup a device I would choose a Fitbit for reliability and Jawbone for someone who needs more motivation.
For iPhone users if one doesnt mind charging the Apple Watch every day then going for an Apple Watch is a no brainer, especially now that the price has been cut down by another $50.
