Uber is offering Rs 750 off on first ride till 30th June. Works perfectly for Delhi users, might work for other cities too.

1. Download Uber app on Android / iOS
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=c…
https://itunes.apple.com/in/app/uber/id36867736…
2. While signing up, use promo code DELHIPAPA, it will display a message which confirms Rs 750 credit. You can also sign up using this link- https://www.uber.com/go/del…pa

@abhijit- DELHIPAPA is a general code, not a referral code. Uber sent it as a Father’s day promotion to all subscribers.
The other code is only in case DELHIPAPA doesn’t work in other cities, and you have tons of Rs 300 codes out there. I’ll edit it out anyways.
As of now, no other code is giving Rs 750 free on Uber. If you search through, you’ll see people trading Rs 500 credits, so you know how much people want it.
Hurts to see veterans like you not reading through the whole post and VD unnecessarily.
One doubt.. Why credit Card information is mandatory while registering. Will they deduct any fees.

Yes, Its mandatory cuz no giving of money’s involved in Uber. It directly cuts from credit card. And from my experience, very good & professional service!

@Nilay007 Sirjee,
If it’s indeed a general code.. then my apologies to you (woh bhi kaan pakad ke )
Keep the good stuff coming !! and keep DD spam and referral free … All in good spirit.
Cheers.
Not able to complete the sign up process. In the end, even when my GPS is ON, it says its off and not able to complete. Any leads how do I complete it?
No problem Abhijit. Yes the code is given by Uber in the link I posted, so its a general one.

Uber doesn’t have a concept of pre-booking. It’s an on-demand service.
Please do not take chances for important journeys such as airport transfer … uber sucks in emergency situations ….
Use it when you have sufficient time at your disposal …
does uber accept debit cards or only credit cards?

Not sure about usage outside Delhi, you can try and let us know.

Its not trial and error , if its not valid money will be deducted from his debit/credit card. So don’t try outside Delhi
@Achilles- I don’t know if you’ve seen the Uber interface. The promo code can be applied even before you provide the credit card info or book a cab. So there’s absolutely nothing to risk. Download the app and put the promo code and see if you get “Rs 750 first ride free” message on the top right.
If you get the message displayed on the top, that obviously means its working. If you’re outside Delhi, I’d appreciate your help with trying it out for dimers’ benefit.

That’s what Achilles is trying to say. People outside Delhi can’t take a risk to try it out and get charged to their Uber credits(if any) and then the credit card. The risk here isn’t about applying the promo code, the risk is about people taking a ride outside the Delhi region.
Ofcourse, the promo code “DELHIPAPA” will get applied to any new account created for any region in India but if a ride is taken outside the Delhi region, the promo code won’t be included in the bill and the fare will get charged from the Uber credits(if any) and then the credit card. Initially when Uber started in India, promo codes from other regions used to work for any region and I am sure many dimers would have taken this benefit but now Uber has fixed this bug and when they say it’s for Delhi, you have to trust them.
I am one of it, used mumbai specific code UBERCRICHQ and get charged on credit card and Uber said this promotion is only valid for Mumbai.
Now I can’t apply any valid promotion on my account except PayTM ones.

Hmm, sad to hear that. By the way, I don’t think you are losing out on any valid Uber promotions. PayTM ones work on your account because they are applicable for existing users. Many promotions which Uber announces are for new users and not for existing users, so you definitely aren’t missing any promotions that are specific to existing users.
I’ve successfully used referral links from US and got Rs 300 credit. Eg. “LXYY3”. In US this would give a $20 credit and in India it would give Rs 300 credit. So the same promo code is being used around the world in this case. So I guess its more a case by case thing.

THAT is the intelligent thing to do; good one Nilay.. of pointing us out in this direction.
and to those here mulling on to the applicability. I wonder what stops you all from seeking clarification?
i asked them a thousand and one questions back then and one of the things is: card is only charged ‘after’ the journey completes and bill is generated. the bill can be split on two cards also.
From: Varun Mundkur <[email protected]> i got other mails too but for my region he was more relevant direct lead within Uber

i mutedly saw these grave million dollar discussions above till thursday; but could not contain myself now; sorry if i am rubbing some of you the wrong way. that is not intentional.
Uber is not a rental company; it is merely a platform.. so pre-booking concept can not work.. most of it is live marketplace

I didn’t get you. Yes, we do know that Uber’s referral link works world wide. But what made you use the referral promo code of “L***3” and give the referral benefit to some guy that you don’t know? Or do you know Cary Berdy as it’s his referral code that you used as shown in the screenshot below? (Were you expecting to get $20 or $30 equivalent worth of Indian Uber credits? ) You could have always pinged one of the dimers here and given the referral benefit to a fellow dimer.

Bhai, only after the journey completes, the bill is generated and you get charged first to the promo code, then to the Uber credits and then to the card. Isn’t it obvious, as every point to point cab services charges money only after the journey? Or is there any cab service that will first charge you and only then let you take the journey? About splitting the fare, it’s with another friend who has an Uber account(with his registered card in Uber account).
My point is, most of it is there in FAQ and T&C and it’s convenient to everybody if we go through them. Imagine 1001 people asking them 1001 questions
@Swaroop- No idea who Cary Berdy is. As for the question if I was expecting $20 credits. Well, yes, atleast I wanted to try.
When we see a pricing mistake on a website, don’t a ton of us order it just to see if they might get lucky? Exactly the same chain of thought.

I thought so that you were thinking about $20 equivalent Indian Uber credits. After all, we dimers tend to think like that
Hurts to see veterans like you, posting referral links/self-promotion here!!
