@DealSeeker The gocash usage has long been restricted to only 25% by goibibo. Now it has been increased for 30% for some time which makes overall discount quite considerable

By the way, I would suggest you to move the parenthesis so there is no confusion about whether it was the discount which was 25% previously or the gocash usage limit.

Max I have seen is 2500-2600…I have had long email exchanges with Goibibo management on this promotion of “Upto 4000 on Select hotels”

Have searched 15-17 cities with about 250-300 hotels but never got more then 2600…

I also agree with you somewhat.. haven’t really found any hotel giving more than 3k discount. But I think this is ideal for users who want to book a hotel worth less than 5k..

Goibibo is feeling the heat from MMT. Unfortunately, MMT has already raced too far ahead and it would take some doing from Gobibio to catch up with MMT. Here are a few reasons why i believe MMT is a better hotel booking site than Goibibo:

1) Pricing transparency : MMT clearly mentions the discount applicable against each hotel. With MMT, you get what you see. Gobibo is more opaque when it comes to discount. They will advertise their GOKARDE coupon which doesn’t clearly specify the discount. Moreover, Discounts are applicable on base fare. No discounts applicable on extra person charges, taxes etc.

2) Refund : Most of the hotels listed on Goibibo are non-refundable. They don’t even refund taxes back. I ended up loosing a few thousand rupees couple of weeks back since i cancelled a hotel booked via Goibibo. They didn’t refund a single penny back claiming that hotel was non refundable.The worst part is, they won’t even return your taxes back. I don’t understand how someone can charge you taxes when the service was not availed in the first place. Even if hotel is refundable, you would still loose 10% of the charges if promo code was applied while booking.

3) Wallet : On Goibibo, You can apply wallet money only on base fare. Wallet money cannot be used to pay taxes, extra person charges etc. MMT wallet is a flat 30% off on total fare.

Even though i mentioned the above negatives. I still believe when it comes to customer service, Goibibo is well above MMT.

BTW, MarBDq3789 is not a flat discount coupon. It depends on the hotel. Discounts can range between 600-2200. There is an Airtel money coupon applicable on Gobibio which is flat discount coupon of 70%.

GoIbibo seriously needs to consider lots of things mentioned above. I’v almost not booked any hotel with goibibo since last 6 months or more.

Speaking of MMT, I must mention an incident which still scares me whenever I book from MMT i.e that last moment “Waitlist” status of my hotel which was “Confirmed” at the time of booking. And unaware of this I just went to the hotel on my schedule only to hear that I do not have any booking with them. I had to go through lots of hassles including multiple long duration calls to MMT customer care & a little squabble with hotel management and I ended up losing lots of time which ultimately ruined my day.

Though I have many good experience with them too, so if the price difference is considerable I prefer MMT. And to avoid such bad experience I’ve made a habit of confirming my booking with the hotel prior to check-in date.

+ 1 to the above statement. Every traveler who books via OTA needs to follow the above rule to avoid inconvenience at the last moment. These days i trust the reviews on Goibio/MMT platform more than Tripadvisor. I always call to confirm the booking before travelling. You can also get a “feel” of the hotel by the way the respond to the call. Since I have to travel regularly on official purposes, getting a quality stay and good night sleep is a must for me.
I also find the goibibo pricing to be very opaque. When paytm announced hotel option, I was hoping for some competition, unfortunately, they seem to be only reselling goibibo bookings.

Exactly! Unfortunately number of hotels with taxes included is very less and moreover, there is no filter available on Goibibo web/App to sort hotels with taxes included . User needs to painstakingly go through each hotel listing to find wheather taxes is included in room fare.

If Goibibo then you should either book 2 room a day x 2 times or 1 room for 2 days x 2 times.. this way you’ll save more, as per my observation.
For GoCash either arrange new account referral or tell your friend to gift you gocash.. (don’t forget to go through t&c of gifting gocash)

final price was only 10364… 16764 – 2500 – 3900= 10364

So you also got 2500 max…I am talking about upto 4000 which they claim…burning cash is not big deal as you get more in makemytrip then goibibo..

he was referring to the discount amount & not the gocash usage

i find cleartrip customer care best in the whole world, goibibo comes second and mmt comes last
