The waterfall Restaurant in Philippines…

Would you eat at this waterfall restaurant?

the photos you see were taken of a place named the Waterfall Restaurant (clever, I know) located in Quezon province of the Philippines. Unlike most waterfalls that would be deadly or dangerous to eat near, at the foot of the Labasin Falls people are encouraged to take their shoes off, relax and eat their popular Filipino dishes. So I ask you, would you dine at this restaurant?

Cape Horn, the cape at the southern tip of the South American continent, the Terra del Fuego…

Terra del Fuego meaning “Land of Fire”

I’d like to know how they filmed this….

Don’t view this after you’ve had a meal.

Southall Slums

Known as ‘Little India’, Southall is home to a huge South Asian population, one of the biggest concentrations outside India.

The town has dozens of Indian restaurants and a huge Asian shopping centre.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2049676...

Welcome to the Slums of Southall: How unscrupulous landlords have illegally built squalid back garden homes for immigrants

-Rats and cockroaches roam in hidden world
-Planning rules are clearly flouted as council claims it is a growing problem across London.

It looks like something which could be seen in the hit film Slumdog Millionaire.

But these shocking images – which show garden sheds and garages transformed into dodgy homes for immigrants – are not from the slums of Mumbai. Incredibly, they are from a west London suburb.

According to The Sun, the sheds in Southall have been built by rogue landlords who are cashing in on newcomers to the country.

A scene you will probably never get to see in person,
so take a moment and enjoy God at work at the North Pole.

And, you also see the sun below the moon.

An amazing photo and not one easily duplicated.
You may want to pass it on to others so they can enjoy it.

‘*When someone shares with you something of value,
you have an obligation to share it with others!’ *

Even after you see it, it is still hard to believe!
Water Bridge in Germany . What a feat!
Six years, 500 million Euros, 918 meters long . . . now this is engineering!

This is a channel-bridge over the River Elbe and joins the former East and West Germany

As part of the unification project. It is located in the city of Magdeburg ,near Berlin ..
The photo was taken on the day of inauguration.

To those who appreciate engineering projects, here’s a puzzle for your armchair engineers
. . . and physicists.

Question:

Did that bridge have to be designed to withstand the additional weight of ship and barge traffic,
Or just the weight of the water?

Answer:

the answer will appear at the end of this post, I moved it to give you time to
think about it.

Saturday, April 23, 2011

The Incredible Magdeburg Water Bridge in Germany
The Magdeburg Water Bridge is a navigable aqueduct in Germany that connects the Elbe-Havel Canal to the Mittelland Canal ,and allows ships to cross over the Elbe River . At 918 meters, it is the longest navigable aqueduct in the world.

The Elbe- Havel and Mittelland canals had previously met near Magdeburg but on opposite sides of the Elbe . Ships moving between the two had to make a 12-kilometer detour, descending from the Mittelland Canal through the Rothensee boat lift into the Elbe, then sailing downstream on the river, before entering the Elbe-Havel Canal through Niegripp lock.. Low water levels in the Elbe often prevented fully laden canal barges from making this crossing, requiring time-consuming off-loading of cargo.

https://i.imgur.com/8liq9.jpg

Construction of the water link was started as early as in the 1930’s but due to the World War 2 and subsequent division of Germany the work remained suspended till 1997. The aqueduct was finally completed and opened to the public in 2003.

https://i.imgur.com/2nA5D.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/WBG9B.jpg

ANSWER:
It only needs to be designed to withstand the weight of the water!

Why?
A ship always displaces an amount of water that weighs the same as the ship,
regardless of how heavily a ship may be loaded.

Just to let you know what’s in My Garage…………..Well not quite

Cash-strapped British people will breathe a sigh of relief when they see these impressive treasure troves.

Despite the financial crisis, it seems the country still has some money left in the Bank of England’s vault beneath London.

In fact, there are stacks of gold bars worth a whopping £156billion stored in an old canteen deep below the streets of the capital.

https://i.imgur.com/n0g0c.jpg

Treasure trove: The Bank of England’s vault under central London contains 4,600 tons of the precious metal, worth an incredible £156billion

https://i.imgur.com/ibBpS.jpg

Rich pickings: The rows of simple shelves are stacked high with 28lb 24-carat gold bars

It seems Gordon Brown did not manage to completely strip the country of its assets when he sold off 400 tons of gold at rock-bottom price during his time as Chancellor.

The gold he got rid of when prices were at a 20-year low cost the country up to £11bn, it was estimated last April.

He made just £2.3billion on the precious metal he sold between 1999 and 2002.

So the 4,600 tons of the precious metal still stored in these concrete-lined vaults in the heart of London will be a welcome sight for those worried we have little left to fall back on.

The piles of 28lb 24-carat gold bars are stacked on simple blue shelves beneath strip lighting. One image alone shows around 15,000 bars or 210 tonnes of pure gold, with a value of approximately £3billion.

https://i.imgur.com/NVbqZ.jpg

Worth a fortune: In this image alone there are around around 15,000 bars and 210 tonnes of pure gold, with a value of about £3billion

On the walls of one of the vaults, posters from the 1940s are still visible, from when the vast room was used as a canteen.

The walls must be literally bombproof as they were used by bank staff as air raid shelters during World War II.

The old-fashioned posters that hang around the room depict sunny climes, luxury cruises and happier times – which may be as welcome a sight as the valuables for many.

Three-foot long keys are needed to unlock to the doors that guard the rooms holding the gold – but sadly not all of it belongs to us.

Some is deposited by foreign governments as well as our own. Different shapes and marks distinguish the varying sources of the wealth.

Views on Hindu wedding ceremonies

A new insight on the development of our culture and the emerging generations’ views on Hindu wedding ceremonies.

This article is copyright to Rajubhai Pandya (Hindupriest.org.uk)

Are our Gujarati weddings heading towards a new approach?

Gujarati wedding have now taken a new approach.
Young people want their marriages to be performed in complete silence with a proper explanation in English from the priest, during the ceremony.

Young couples who get married according to the Gujarati ceremony with their partners of Hindu origin or of another denomination wish to understand their wedding ceremony. They feel that if they are asked to participate in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony they deserve a full English explanation. Sometimes even their parents are not able to offer a reasonable explanation on the ceremony.
Do we attend the wedding ceremony for socializing?

Most of our Gujarati marriages are an event where 700 – 1000 people walk about talking and socializing with loud Bollywood music heard while the wedding is taking place. No one is taking any notice about what is happening in the mandap during the ceremony, and to be honest, they don’t care. It is like a cattle market type atmosphere. It is no wonder our youngsters don’t go to Gujarati weddings as there is little for them to learn about our culture and traditions.

At Gujarati weddings the Maharaj begins by asking everyone to remain silent during the wedding. Within the first 10 minutes of the wedding around 7% of the guests will go to the bar or go outside if it is a sunny day and have a cigarette. They will talk about the advice they would like to give George Bush if he was to ring them on resolving the Middle East issue.

The couple spend around £40 to £85 per person at their wedding, is it worth having these guests on your wedding list, even if they are your friends and family?

Other cultures have their wedding ceremonies carried out in silence and with discipline. If our Gujarati people go to these weddings they will be at their best behaviour. When it comes to our Gujarati weddings they will run a mock.

Do we invite people for the wedding ceremony or are we in a race with the last wedding we attended and blowing the valuable funds which could be spent wisely for the better future of our children? Do we parents need to change or bring the change?

Some of our middle aged members of the community are finding this difficult to accept as they think by not sending the invitation to a friend or a relative may bring an end to the relation. They want to meet friends and socialize and have the variety of food.

Are we in a race of exhibiting of showing the highest numbers of invitees by stretching our selves’ financially? Do the parents have the time to meet and greet all the invitees during the ceremony?

Can these unnecessary spending spent in a better way? May be to support our children and their partners to build up their better future? Is it now the right time to think!!!!!!

What do our today’s youngsters want?

Youngsters have now set their minds on a new tradition where the ceremony will be conducted in silence and the priest will explain in English to the couple and the guests exactly what is taking place and why.

Our culture is in the hands of the young people, they will be taking it forward into the next generation when we are not around. I say let them dictate how they want their wedding to be carried out as it is one of the most important days of their lives.

My support is completely with the young couples, if you want a beautiful wedding that people will remember, get a priest who will explain in Gujarati & English after all it’s important to understand the vows and commitments you are undertaking. We are simply asking our guests for approx 75mins of their time to remain silent and witness the ceremony.

Costly venues are making it difficult to have weddings of thousands of people. So, a small list of 200 friends and family who appreciate the wishes of the young couple by remaining silent during the wedding are invited to the wedding and the rest will have to settle for an invitation to the reception, if they are lucky.

Guests who are finding it difficult to accept and ignore the wishes of the young people will find their names missing from the wedding list.
The wedding lists for the guests and relatives are getting shorter.

Views presented in this article are purely those of the author – Rajubhai Pandya.

The pathway, built earlier in the summer echoes the glass-bottomed walkway at the Grand Canyon in the U.S.
The 70ft bridge is 4,000ft above the natural wonder and allows tourists to look through 2.5in of crystal-clear glass to the Canyon floor below.
The Tianmen mountain, literally translated as Heavenly Gate Mountain is so called because of a huge natural cave that occurs halfway up to the summit.
