Create Rules For Your Life That Serve You Well
Having rules that govern your life, behavior, and choices might seem confining and restrictive. But there’s a profound freedom that comes from living by a set of rules that you’ve chosen for yourself. You can refrain from toiling over as many decisions. You simply follow your own rules.

Suppose you had the rule that you’re never going to lie to your partner. Then you never have to fight with yourself about whether or not to tell the truth. You simply tell the truth and get on with life.

Develop your own set of rules for each aspect of your life. Rules provide the framework for having a more productive and stress-free life.
This example can guide you in creating a unique set of rules for your own life:

1. I always go to bed and get up at times that provide me with the opportunity to get a minimum of 8 hours of sleep.

2. I refrain from checking email before 10 AM or after 4 PM.

3. I refuse to answer the phone when I’m spending time with my family.

4. I tell everyone in my family that I love them at least once per day.

5. I accept full responsibility for all outcomes in my life, both good and bad.

6. I read a minimum of 30 minutes per day.

7. I speak to all of my friends at least once each month.

8. I meditate every night for 10 minutes before I go to sleep.

9. Before bed, I make a list of the most important items to complete the following day.

And so on.
Each week, we all make choices that result in guilty or remorseful feelings. But we also make tough decisions that we know are correct. Having a list of rules for your behavior makes it easier to make wise decisions with less mental turmoil.

Your rules can move you closer to your goals, as well as remove frustration from your life.

Follow these tips to develop your own rules:

1. Make a list of your most important goals. It’s helpful to have goals related to your finances, health, family, and personal accomplishments. If you know your goals, you can develop rules that support them.

2. What are your values? When you’re behaving in a manner that’s congruent with your values, you’ll be much happier and more successful.

3. What obstacles stand in your way? How do you waste time? What are your weaknesses? Rules that eliminate or minimize the challenges in your life are worthwhile.

4. What example do you want to set for your children? If you have children, what do you want them to see when they watch you? They’re always watching, even if you think they aren’t.

Most of us are striving for a greater degree of freedom, and rules seem like a limit to freedom. However, you free up a lot of mental resources when you make important decisions beforehand. If your rule is to exercise every day, then you can avoid having to spend 20 minutes deciding whether or not to exercise. You just do it.

Take the time to make your own set of rules. The number doesn’t matter. Start with a couple and add more as you see fit. Make some rules for yourself in order to set yourself free.

Eventually our bodies grow old and our possessions fade.
All that has value becomes the impact we’ve left on others.
A few years later,
NO one will remember how rich and beautiful you were.
But will remember the impact you made on their mind and hearts.

There is a blood bank inside the Tata Motors premises in
Jamshedpur (there are blood banks in other plants as well).
If you donate a bottle of blood, not only you are given off
for that day but you can also avail an extra leave within 7 days of
donating the blood. Employees use it to extend their holidays.
So, there is no shortage of leaves ever!! Needless to say,
Tata loses several man-hours through this policy.

Once while having a conversation with the employees of the company,
Ratan Tata was asked a question (by a senior official),
“People take undue advantage of the policy.
We lose several man-hours due to this. The blood is replenished
within 24 hours, you know. Why to give that extra holiday
within 7 days of donating blood?”

Ratan Tata smiled. He always does.
And then came a calm reply.
“Encouragement is something I don’t need to teach you.
Only a few people donate because they want to. (Talking about man-hours)

We may be losing some man-hours doing that but have you ever thought the number of man-hours that gets added to the person’s life who receives that blood

in necessity? I am ready to sacrifice 16 man-hours for the better good."

ONE CHOICE CAN CHANGE Your LIFE

One…
One tree can start a forest,
One smile can begin a friendship,
One hand can lift a soul,
One word can frame the goal,
One candle can wipe out darkness,
One laugh can conquer gloom,
One hope can raise our spirits,

And…one choice can change your life.

Think about that. One choice, just one, can change your life forever.
Simply put, your life today is what your choices have made it,
but with new choices, you can change directions this very moment.

Life is not about how far you can go, how high you can jump, or how much weight you can carry. Life is about experiences, friendships, family, and the memories they create. So, why do so many people fear old age when the years that go by enrich us?
No matter how old you may be, you should always be full of life, even more so than when you were young.

Hello … Goodbye

Lots happens between ‘hello and goodbye’! Lots happens between that first cry and the last time the eyes shut forever. You were there for your gap between ‘hello and goodbye’, but how much can be re-called? Do you remember your first hello with everyone, and did you ever have a goodbye that you can remember, or maybe one that haunts you wanting to again say ‘hello, how are you…it’s been a long time with a lot happening between the ‘hello and the goodbye’. Starting over rarely gets to hear the ‘hello’, as goodbye has closed the doors, and ones that are sealed.

Life becomes filled with ghosts of the mind and heart, yet never continue living life so that one of those ghosts is the ‘ghost of love’. Much of life is relegated to a ‘cruise control’ that avoids taking what today is called a ‘selfie’ of who you really are rather that the ‘coverup’ that becomes the accepted you. Life is best for the soul if you always are free, but free with lots of love, and doing what’s necessary to make sure both of those aspects of life reign. Make it out of your closets of fear.

Go to the other side of life that adorns the positive, and converts all that is less to the highest possibility of consciousness. Between ‘hello and goodbye’ is the time to heal all of your wounds, and make amends where possible.
Life is seemingly an illusion, yet is very real in the moment. We are all possessed of godliness within to give and receive from common sense and the heart, yet too many get caught up in the spider web of ‘nonsense and stuff’ that consumes our attention in the direction of survival, and for many, enjoying the endless technological advantages and benefits. They each cause you to overlook that they are really closer to the illusion by far than focusing on your life and knowing the real you inside.

Drop into the night, for the dawn of a new day of opportunity is coming! Rise with the sun! The sun of godliness shines for you! Make life a honeymoon. Find excitement for all the possibilities from where you are. You have places to go, people to meet, and things to do – between ‘hello and goodbye’.

‘’The music has ended, I still hear the song
Our moment was brief, but our kisses were long
Though the loving is over, the love of you stays
And the memory will warm me the rest of my days

It’s not how long the Spring
It’s not how wide the sky\
It’s just how sweet the time
Between ‘Hello’ and ‘Goodbye’ ‘’

What is Hope

Hope is knowing that a positive outcome awaits.
Hope is not only expecting a dream to come true,
But also having a deep assurance
That it’s within your reach.

Hope is saying you can.
Hope is knowing that you can improve
And that you always get better with practice.

Hope is knowing that you can achieve your goals
Through hard work and persistence.

Hope is looking to the future with joy
And having an expectation of
Better things to come.

Hope is the knowledge that life is everlasting,
And that miracles happen every day.

Hope is something that never abandons you.
Even when your life is filled with
Sadness and disappointment,
A spark remains inside to help you
Get through the rough times.

Hope is one of God’s greatest gifts to you,
Because it’s the magic that inspires you
To keep trying, learning, loving, and living..

DD Podhigai telecast an interview with Mr P M Nair retired IAS officer who was the secretary to Dr Kalam Sir when he was the President. I summarise the points he spoke in voice choked with emotion. Mr Nair had authored a book titled “Kalam Effect” .

1. Dr Kalam used to receive costly gifts whenever he went as it is customary for many nations to give gifts to the visiting Head of state. Refusing the gift would become an insult to the nation and an embarrassment for India. So, he received them and on his return, Dr Kalam asked the gifts to be photographed and then catalogued and handed over to the archives. Afterwards, he never even looked at them. He did not take even a pencil from the gifts received when he left Rashtrapathi Bhavan.

2. In 2002, the year Dr Kalam took over, the Ramadan month came in July-August. it was a regular practice for the President to host an iftar party. Dr Kalam asked Mr Nair why he should host a party to people who are already well fed and asked him to find out how much would be the cost. Mr Nair told it costs around Rs. 22 lakhs. Dr Kalam asked him to donate that amount to a few selected orphanages in the form of food, dresses and blankets. The selection of orphanages was left to a team in Rashtrapathi Bhavan and Dr Kalam had no role in it. After the selection was made, Dr Kalam asked Mr Nair to come inside his room and gave him a cheque for Rs 1 lakh. He said that he is giving some amount from his personal savings and this should not be informed to anyone. Mr Nair was so shocked that he said “sir, I will go outside and tell everyone . People should know that here is a man who not only donated what he should have spent but he is giving his own money also”. Dr Kalam though he was a devout Muslim did not have Iftar parties in the years in which he was the President.

3. Dr Kalam did not like “yes sir” type of people. Once when the Chief Justice of India had come and on some point Dr Kalam expressed his view and asked Mr Nair, “Do you agree?”/ Mr Nair said “No sir, i do not agree with you”. The Chief Justice was shocked and could not believe his ears. It was impossible for a civil servant to disagree with the president and that too so openly. Mr Nair told him that the President would question him afterwards why he disagreed and if the reason was logical 99% he would change his mind.

4. Dr Kalam invited 50 of his relatives to come to Delhi and they all stayed in Rashtrapathi Bhavan. He organised a bus for them to go around the city which was paid for by him. No official car was used. All their stay and food was calculated as per the instructions of Dr Kalam and the bill came to Rs 2 lakhs which he paid. In the history of this country no one has done it. Now, wait for the climax, Dr Kalam’s elder brother stayed with him in his room for the entire one week as Dr Kalam wanted his brother to stay with him. When they left, Dr Kalam wanted to pay rent for that room also. Imagine a President of country paying rent for the room in which he is staying. This was any way not agreed by the staff who thought the honesty was getting too much to handle !!!.

5. When Kalam sir was to leave Rashtrapathi Bhavan at the end of the tenure, every staff member went and met him and paid their respects. Mr Nair went to him alone as his wife had fractured her leg and was bed ridden. Dr Kalam asked why his wife did not come. He replied that she was in bed due to an accident. next day, Nair saw lot of police men around his house and asked what had happened. They said that the President of India was coming to visit him in his house. He came and met his wife and chatted for some time. Mr Nair says that no president of any country would visit a civil servant’s house and that too on such a simple pretext.

5 SIMPLE RULES TO BE HAPPY.

1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3.Live simply.
4.Give more and demand less.
5.Expect miracles in life.
No one can go back and make a brand new start.
Anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.
God didn`t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow,
sun without rain.
But He did promise
strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light on the way.
Disappointments are like road bumps, they slow you down a bit
but you will enjoy the smooth road afterwards.
Don`t stay on the bumps too long. Move on!
When you feel down because you didn`t get what you want
just sit tight and be happy, because God has thought
of something better to give you.
When something happens to you, good or bad
consider what it means.
There is a purpose to life`s events, to teach you how to laugh
or not to cry too hard.
You can`t make someone love you. All you can do is be
someone who can be loved;
the rest is upto the person to realize your worth.
It is better to lose your pride to the one you love
than to lose the one you love because of pride.
We spend too much time looking for the right person to love
or finding fault with those we already love;
When instead we should be perfecting the love we give.
Never abondon an old friend. You will never find one
who can take his place.
Friendship is like wine, it gets better as it gets older.
