New York’ Tent: a night under the stars
It was the coldest winter ever….
Many animals died because of the cold.
The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided to group together to keep warm.
This way they covered and protected themselves; but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions.
The porcupine is the prickliest of rodents, though its Latin name means “quill pig.”
There are about two dozen porcupine species, and all boast a coat of needle-like quills to give predators a sharp reminder that this animal is no easy meal.
After a while, they decided to distance themselves one from the other and they began to die, alone and frozen.
So they had to make a choice: either accept the quills of their companions or disappear from the Earth.
Wisely, they decided to go back to being together. They learned to live with the little wounds caused by the close relationship with their companions in order to receive the heat that came from the others. This way they were able to survive.
The best relationship is not the one that brings together perfect people, but when each individual learns to live with the imperfections of others and can admire the other person’s good qualities.
Have you ever been guilty of looking at others your own age and thinking, “surely I can’t look that old.”. Well . . . you’ll love this one.
My name is Rekha . I was sitting in the waiting room for my first appointment with a new dentist.
I noticed his BDS diploma on the wall, which bore his full name.
Suddenly, I remembered a tall , handsome, dark-haired boy with the same name had been in my high school class some 30-odd years ago.
Could he be the same guy that I had a secret crush on, way back then?
Upon seeing him, however, I quickly discarded any such thought. This balding, gray-haired man with the deeply lined face was way too old to have been my classmate.
After he examined my teeth, I asked him if he had attended St Mary’s high school.
“Yes. yes, I did.’ he gleamed with pride.
He answered, “In 1984. Why do you ask?”
“You were in my class!!!!”, I exclaimed.
He looked at me closely.
Then,
that
ugly,
old,
bald,
wrinkled faced,
gray-haired,
decrepit,

Spypals? US has a server near Delhi
America has 700 Servers Spread Over 150 Nations
Chidanand Rajghatta
If the Indian government seems least perturbed about the worldwide electronic surveillance by the United States, the reason could well be this: New Delhi may be collaborating with Washington in its snooping.
At least one of the nearly 150 servers used by the US National Security Agency in a hitherto undisclosed program called XKeyscore is located in India, according to a report in the Guardian based on a new set of documents provided by American whistleblower Edward Snowden. The program allows analysts to search through vast databases containing e-mails, online chats and browsing histories of millions of individuals, in a massive sweep that is now showing up as larger than initially reported.
The latest disclosures emerged even as Snowden received temporary asylum in Russia on Friday, enabling him to move out of the transit zone in Moscow’s Sheremetyavo airport where he had been cooped up since June 23. The move is bound to further strain relations between Moscow and Washington, which want him to be turned over so that he can be tried.
President Barack Obama met with US lawmaker in the White House Oval Office on Thursday in an effort to assure them there is no overreach in the NSA surveillance programme, despite the continuous leaks from Snowden that suggests otherwise.
According to the latest revelations, the US has installed some 700 servers in 150 locations around the world, including one near New Delhi, under the XKeyscore programme. The programme is said to enable monitoring of “nearly everything a typical user does on the Internet,” including the content of e-mails, websites visited and searches.
India has been remarkably sanguine about the NSA activity, buying into the “everybody does it” and “such monitoring is needed to track terrorist activity” arguments mouthed by the Washington establishment.
Senior Indian cabinet ministers have waved off questions and concerns about the US programmes in background conversations, saying the two sides are now cooperating intensely in intelligence matters and there is no need to be concerned.
But in the US, concern is growing at the possible overreach by the NSA, resulting in repeated assurances from the establishment that there is no intrusive monitoring of American citizens; the same assurance is not held out to citizens of other countries. US officials and various spook representatives are arguing that the NSA needs to have the ability “to collect the dots in order to connect the dots,” but no attempt is made to connect the dots unless otherwise required.
