Be careful guys! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_f...2… My dad’s murder by Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals Kolkata Exactly 1 year ago on 9th July 2018, my dad Mr. Ashok Diwan, 61 yr old healthy active businessman, had himself walked in to Apollo Gleneagles Hospital Kolkata to see neurosurgeon Dr SN Singh after getting brain MRI done there the previous day for weakness in his right leg. That day we never knew that we were pushing dad in well of death to fulfill their greed of not losing a customer. Dr SN Singh told us immediately after looking into the MRI scan that dad was suffering from last stage IV brain cancer with life of 18 months left as there was no cure & got him admitted straight from his OPD chamber for doing stereotactic brain biopsy & kept dad hospitalised for 3 days but never did the biopsy stating he was sure that dad was having last stage brain cancer. He took radiation oncologist Dr Tanweer Shahid in the loop who reconfirmed that there was no cure & cancer treatment would only increase expected life span by 1 or 2 more months. Without doing biopsy they administered radiotherapy, chemotherapy & steroid for a month during which dad started having many new problems but Dr Tanweer Shahid continued administering the treatment in spite of being made aware of everything & by the time he stopped it owing to the new problems, 75% of the treatment was already over. We never knew that from being a normal fit person dad would end up being in ICU for 4 months almost throughout on ventilator in comatose state just because of wrong diagnosis of cancer & its deadly treatment. We never knew that one day it will be known that dad never had any cancer & the wrong cancer treatment given to him had made him irrecoverable. We never knew that one day Dr SN Singh would tell us that they had administered cancer treatment on my dad without doing biopsy just because they did not have the machine to do stereotactic brain biopsy. We never knew that he would stop moving his limbs one after the other (was only able to move his head & eyes eventually), would lose the function of his kidneys and need 24×7 dialysis, would become a diabetic due to their overdose of steroid, would acquire multiple infections in his blood, lungs & brain which he got from the ICU, would acquire deadly skin disease TEN (Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis) which happens to only 1 person out of 1.3 million people and would ultimately lose his life. Dr Kunal Saha’s wife Anuradha Saha had acquired the same skin disease TEN which was not treated properly causing her death & it became India’s biggest medical negligence case. We never knew critical care specialist Dr Suresh Ramasubban, dermatologist Dr Srabani Ghosh Zoha, dermatologist Dr Atul Taneja, dermatologist Dr Sachin Varma plastic surgeon Dr Pritha Rakhsit etc. would do the same with my dad by not treating skin disease TEN as per protocol in spite of Supreme Court’s ruling. Haven’t added all pictures of dad with TEN as many won’t be able to bear. Dr. Kunal Saha is helping us in our search for justice for dad through his NGO People for Better Treatment. On 26th August 2018 Dr Tanweer Shahid & Pulmonologist Dr Subhashish Ghosh got dad admitted in open ICU for monitoring of the new problems he was having while receiving cancer treatment. After 4 days, dad was put on ventilator for 7 days. Later they told us that since dad was immunocompromised due to the cancer treatment, he had acquired multiple deadly infections in his blood & lungs from their ICU itself. Dr Suresh Ramasubban, Pulmonologist & Critical Care specialist reviewed dad & told us that he keeps such patients on ventilator for 2 days, then on home ventilator for 1 day & discharges on 4th day. We got dad shifted under his care & he put dad back on ventilator but dad was never put off from ventilator & continued to be on that for 4 months till we lost him. We came to know about dad’s wrong diagnosis & treatment only in November 2018 (while dad was already in ICU since 2.5 months) through renowned neurosurgeon Dr LN Tripathy of Medica Hospital who clarified that the damage done to dad was irreversible. Soon hospital authorities asked us not to make any further payment & till that point we had already paid them around 30-35 lacs. They offered to get dad treated at their cost forever & also offered to shift him to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai but we asked them to get dad treated in Singapore at their cost which hey denied. Later we agreed for treatment in Chennai but they kept on fooling us & never arranged for it. Some influential businesspersons called hospital CEO Rana Dasgupta on our behalf but he told them that we were lying just to escape from paying the hospital bill. We had posted about dad’s condition on facebook on 9th December 2018 without mentioning the name of hospital or doctors as we feared for dad’s life. On 12th December 2018 a subinspector in civil dress from local Police Station came to dad’s bedside in the ICU & showed me a complain of the same date on hospital’s letterhead written by hospital COO Joy Basu stating false allegations against myself, my bro & mom & all of those were proved to be false by their own hospital staff in front of the subinspector. We were taken to security room downstairs where hospital’s security incharge Anil Kumar Kami & some night manager Amitava Pal harassed us for an hour. We felt imtimidated when we were in the most vulnerable state of our lives. We had to write to the police commissioner stating our pain. Next morning hospital CEO Rana Dasgupta came to dad’s bedside in the ICU & openly claimed that they were forced to file the police complain because we had filed medical negligence complain against them at WBCERC & had written on facebook. For next 3-4 days they kept on intimidating us through their bouncers security incharge Anil Kumar Kami & security head Uttam Chakraborty who threatened us with dire consequences. We finally decided to shift dad to Medica Hospital. When we were leaving, their billing manager & other manager Amitava Pal asked us to give them in writing that we would come on some later date to settle financial related matter. They told us that it was needed only for their audit purpose as they had spent lakhs on dad’s treatment & that it was just a formality & we would never ever be bothered to make any further payment. After we left with dad for Medica Hospital, they informed Medica Hospital’s authorities that we had run away without clearing their bill. Eventually we took dad to Chennai by air ambulance to neurosurgeon Dr Siddhartha Ghosh who was the 1st one to question the cancer diagnosis & treatment when he had visited Kolkata in September 2018 & had reviewed dad’s case. We ended up spending 65 lacs but failed to save dad & lost him on 26th December 2018. At Apollo Gleneagles they had also tried to kill dad on few occasions for destruction of evidence by contaminating the dialysate liquid used in dialsysis which the treating nephrologists Dr VV Lakshminarayan & Dr Tirthankar Mohanty were unable to explain. On another day they had done 24X7 CRRT dialysis without using fluid warmer which is mandatory. It had brought down dad’s body temperature to 91.1 degree which they were noting as 97.1 degree to hoodwink us. Dad’s heart rate had continuously fallen from 108 to 62. They had confirmed that he was going to die within few hours. It was only when we showed them document searched from google that fluid warmer was necessary, they attached it after 5 hours & dad’s body temperature got restored. There were several other instances of negligence which I have not added here as the post will become endless. Someone asked us whether we are raising our voice only for compensation as we are not going to get dad back. But we are raising our voice so that no one else’s dad is killed in such way & no other happy family is ruined like ours. Share this post in public interest as it can prevent your friends & loved ones from falling in similar death traps by doctors who are considered to be next to God. Licenses of the hospital & all the guilty doctors involved in dad’s murder should be immediately cancelled permanently & they must be criminally prosecuted to send a strong signal to the ones who indulge in unethical medical practice so that no other ignorant patient gets brutally killed.
