the Prime Minister had remarked a few months ago that lawmakers should not decide their own salaries; rather it should be linked to the salaries of some important offices in the country like the President or the Vice-President. It seems to be a good proposal worth considering and implementing.

When crores are at their disposal, these numbers do not matter, if you insist, they can take even Rs1 salary from tomorrow yet no change in their lifestyle smile

They must take Rs 1 salary as they have no expense
Everything given by govt and why to take pension also
Politics is not career, it is serving of nation
Which people do voluntarily.
Like in Gurudwara people give their service without any worldly desire.

Ok…. Reading all of the comments above I have to say few things. 1) If a CA or a mid level management, or IPS, IAS officers get over 1 lakh salary what is the problem with CM getting few lakh.as salary ?

2) First of all the idea that politics ( or being a doctor teacher etc.) is service of nation or public and you shouldn’t get money for it or very little money for it is lie spread by politicians.
… then we should stop paying public servants to.

3)  Unlike people serving in Gurudwara politicians spend crores of rupees in election Champaign. Wether it’s panchayat election or general election doesn’t matter, Large dum of money is always required. Like a business investment.
Which they get from businessmen and criminals.

And you think why there’ so much corruption.!

Alternative is public/ crowd funding. Like Kahnaiya Kumar or Bernie Sanders in US.
