After using HP Ultra portable , Dell XPS m1210 and Macbook pro i7, I started looking for low price basic laptop which suit my work type. As i came to know about Asus x53e and after checking snap and details, i liked the design and configuration which perfectly fits my working style.
As i received 10% max Rs 2000 off ebay coupon, i used it and ordered on ebay for Rs 19,199/-
Asus X53E-SX1556D Laptop
Colour : Snow White
Celeron Dual Core/2GB/ 320 GB /DOS
After receiving it, i removed hard-disk and ram, upgraded it with Kingston 30gb SSD and Transcend 8gb[4gb+4gb] DDR3 RAM. I’m going to use 320gb hard-disk as a external drive with the help of hard-disk casing.
Laptop started running unbelievably silent, heard fan only when cd/dvd inserted. Looks amazing.Below is the snaps of the laptop.

Now a days ram and hdd in laptop are user accessible, upgrades won’t void warranty. If you purchase ASUS make sure you buy extended warranty, it is cheap and it helps.
Excellent review and laptop looks really good at this price. It says altec lansing speakers. How is the sound quality and how loud it is

Sound quality is very nice…For that price, it’s more…
I’m only confused by one issue. I have installed 8gb ram, with windows 7 Enterprise 64bit OS. But Physical memory showing only 4GB, Virtual Memory is 7.56GB. Below is the snap of system information. hope someone help or explain…
a – is your copy of 7 legal and not pirated from some site and is an old one?
b – the installed ram is of same company, if different companies do both have same specs especially of cas latency? check both rams if they have 9.9.9.24 written at the back.
c – avoid playing with hardware if you are unaware. you can void warranty unknowingly.

A. Copy is legal now (using loader )
B. Installed RAM is same company RAM Transcend DDR3 4GB 1333 Mhz [ bought it from here http://www.infibeam.com/Components/i-Transcend-... ]
C. I’m not new to hardware, using PC Laptop since Year 2000.
if ram are same than high probability that you are running a fake 64 bits w7!! yes, most of the so called legits are actually made on 32 bit platform. not often people notice till 64 bit software don’t run smoothly or you get rams misreads.
why don’t you for checking try a w8? I’m pretty sure you’ll get correct reading and both ram will work fine. other than that you can try a better copy of vista/w7.

I think only windows 7 “Enterprise” edition having this issue. One of my family member having windows 7 Ultimate 64bit [using loader]…and it’s showing 6gb out of 6gb ram.
however, i have contacted Asus online support, hope they will send some solution..
Problem solved.
Upper side 4gb ram was not attached to the slot properly. Removed it and reinstalled by pressing side by side…now showing 8GB.:-}
lol… good dat ur ram did not get damaged..

Why did you buy a celeron diual core? Are you using it only for office work? Can it run graphic moderate games?
Also how much did the 30GB SSD cost?

I thought celeron dual core is perfect for my usage. Not installed any big games as i hardly play any. Most of the time I use this laptop for official work [online trading, emails, browsing, chatting etc) , mp3, movies and for image editing using adobe Photoshop CS6. Which works perfectly fine.
About SSD, i have Kingston 30gb SSD Now V series which I’m using it since July 2011. Paid Rs 2,920 on ebay. Works like new even now!
I have WD ( Western Digital ) 1TB External Drive where i take backup of files which i hardly use regularly and keep 5 GB Free on SSD [even after installing windows 7 and Adobe CS6 ]

even me too…may be it’s working perfectly because of SSD + 8GB Ram..
Good…
