Udio is the worst

Udio has the worst customer service ever.

During the ExtraKhushi offer, I bought a Heater from PayTM. They refused to credit the cashback automatically. Then I gave them all the details about the transaction (invoice, screenshot), so they gave me a reference number and told me to contact them after 2 days. I have contacted them regularly, it has been 14 days, no cashback. Every time they say the same thing, “Your request is on priority basis, please contact us after 2 days”.

I am okay with not getting the cashback. Here’s the real problem: I transacted at a merchant through PayU and payed through Udio card. I had to cancel my order and refund was initiated. But apparently, Udio doesn’t automatically credit the refund in your account. You have to share all the details and email them. I don’t know how many days will it take to actually get a refund now. Frustrated.

Never seen worst customer service.

@as005 Seems like you missed the fact that Udio stopped giving cashback for Paytm transactions a couple of months ago. Moreover, Paytm’s exclusion is explicitly mentioned in their offer T&Cs.

“Bill Payments, Mobile Recharges and Loading funds into any other prepaid wallet/instruments using Udio RBL Bank Visa Card or Digital card shall not be eligible for availing this offer. Transactions done on Paytm using RBL Bank Visa Card or Digital card shall not be eligible for availing this offer.

I’m not sure why customer executive didn’t tell me this. The T&C also seems ambiguous since I actually bought an appliance rather than “Bill payment, Mobile Recharge or Load fund”. Don’t care about cashback right now. Just need refund.

Their customer service is shit, they take like half an hour to reply to a message and then disconnect if you don’t reply within 5 minutes. Emails are unanswered, no response. Will probably shift to some other physical card. Any suggestions?

Actually, they have specifically mentioned “Transactions done on Paytm” because of its special case of having its own marketplace in addition to being a prepaid wallet.

As for customer service, all of the prepaid wallets have the same poor customer service. DBS was an exception in its early days and is still better than the rest. So you might want to open a Digibank e-wallet or even a savings account. They have already been giving 10% cashback upto 1000 per month for shopping at Amazon and some other sites for quite a long time. Many people have been utilizing the offer religiously. But you do need an Aadhaar to open their savings account.

IMO, Udio is one of the better Wallets out there.
To call it worst after a single bad experience is unfair.

Right from the Shmart day’s (50℅ recharge offers!!), you would always need to take that extra effort to read through and understand their offers, but once you get the hang of it and play by their rules, you will find the experience rewarding.

One reason to take that extra effort to always read T&C’s is that, offer benefits would be credited automatically, as long as you meet the Offer conditions unambiguously, since the same conditions would be fed into the Computer Program that is tasked with processing these reward credits.

There could be a small percentage of transactions – usually less than 1℅ (no source to back this though), that might not fall under the purview of the program, that would require human intelligence to interpret and apply these conditions (aka customer care), as and how they see it fit.

The basic idea is to avoid this human element as much as possible https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

The problem is that when there’s no problem and you don’t have to deal with the customer care, then it’s alright. But as and when you have a problem (in long run, you probably will), then you have to face the wrath of poor customer service which they provide.

I understand that I made a mistake by not reading their T&C but customer care executives were misinformed themselves. They can’t even answer simple questions. I don’t care about the cashback, but the refund issue is actually problematic. Why can’t they automatically credit it into my account? I sent them a mail yesterday about the refund, yet to receive a response.

@as005 As for your pending refund for a transaction done via PayU, my advice would be to just stay patient. The refunds are indeed processed automatically but they take as long as even a full month.

As I realized long ago, the best strategy with wallets and eCommerce sites in case of a issue is to open a complaint and then wait patiently. The more you interact with them and the more you try to escalate, the more frustrated you will get. But the resolution will still take its own time regardless of your actions. Think of it as the cost of the convenience and discounts which we get with online shopping. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif

Even I had the same “misconception” that they’re processed automatically but customer executive had a different idea about the issue: https://i.imgur.com/YMxYp...pg

Yes, I suppose I will wait patiently. Can’t do much anyway. It’s just that funds get blocked for sometime and they are not giving any assurance.

P.S thanks for taking the time to reply. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_biggrin.gif

I did receive a refund automatically about 6-months ago (took more than 30 days). Maybe they have changed their policy now. Thanks for sharing that screenshot. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

More than 30 days seems excessive. Let’s wait and watch. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif
