Stop misleading the mass regarding new TRAI rule

I just received a message on both Whatsapp and Telegram group of Desidime with the following lines:

‘New TRAI rules now allow you to select TV channels you would want to watch! It can allow you to reduce your TV Bills by more than 50%. However, if you dont select smartly, you might see increase in your monthly TV bills.’

It will NOT reduce your bill by 50%, on the contrary, it’ll actually INCREASE your bill by 50% (random figure). Just because some minority of TS users were able to reduce their bill doesn’t mean the same for the majority of DTH users.

Have a look at TRAI’s own Twitter handle and the replies of DTH consumers thereof for the grip on the actual FACT: https://mobile.twitter.co...AI

This was expected from a corrupted government and the connected government organisations, but when even Desidime is spreading such nonsense it’s extremely unfortunate, and imho should be fixed with a follow-up message!

@Nigel @admin and to all the other concerned site admins and moderators, sorry I don’t exactly know you all, so not able to tag you.

I myself did channel selection yesterday on Tata Sky and i can clearly see reduction in my bills… It dropped from 535 to 320

One has to spend some time around selecting channels but its one time effort and definitely worth it.

If someone wants to watch all channels available, Bills will increase… but According to TRAI statistics, 80 percent of customers watch less than 40 channels.

And with many people moving to smart TV and have chromecast or Fire stick, This is a huge savings ….

So no there is no intention to mislead anyone… If something worked, then only we have shared. You might have different opinion but i still stick with the statement sent on whatsapp and Telegram smile

My bill increased by 20 RS…and that too I have to forgo zee and Sony…selected only star value pack,TV 18 value pack ,NdtV pack and my bill was already more than my monthly bill of 230s….network capacity fees is the biggest bummer.

The stakeholders doing this should check it twice before doing such blunder. Voted up for the awareness! Good efforts.. plus1

//TRAI’s New Regulation empowers TV consumer. Pay for what you view. Contact your TV Service Provider and exercise your option. https://channeltariff.trai.go...//

This is the message I have received from Trai. Isn’t it funny af, where they are forcing us to pay 153 for good for nothing channels and asking us to “exercise our rights” at the same time?? Do they even know that we have already been paying for what we view and need not to be reminded by these morons covering up with this new adventure they have started recently with channel owners.

It is worse for people who watch more than 2 regional language. Because no bouquet is supporting more than 2 languages.

I watch Telugu, Bengali & Hindi (sometimes english when I am high on weed) Bills have increased 40%.

You mean multi tv? Same as before. It’s up to DTH provider to decide the price.

Local cable people in normal cities offer “more than enough” channels at a price less than 200rs. My present cable operator gives 37 HD channels
(which includes 12 major telugu HD channels) also within 200rs.

I don’t know about remaining states… but these new rules won’t suite for a telugu family which has parents and kids.. kids watch cartoon, young/adult watches sports, entertainment (news channels also.. but they are either in free channels or at minimal price).. In telugu, entertainment channels are offered by sun, zee, star, etv.. these 4 HD boquets along with star sports hd channels and cartoon channels raising my bill to 440rs.

120% increase.
