“Why wasn’t my post made FPD”

I believe this question comes up in minds of many of the dimers (esp new members) when they post a deal and it is not promoted to the Front Page. They seek an answer for the same but unfortunately it is not practically feasible to give an answer to everyone individually. Hence, I thought of creating a Topic here to give all possible (but not restricted to) answers to this question.

Hope it will calm the queries which many have in mind.

1. Very little price decrease from the previous available best price

2. Store (website) is not reliable / has a lot of negative reviews

3. Product is not worth (reviews are not good)

4. Coupon code used was not generic (universally applicable), i.e. the deal is not applicable for everyone

5. Similar deal/product is already on FP

6. Price of the product is going down and is expected to drop further

7. Product is available at a cheaper price offline.

8. Another better product is available in the similar price range.

9. Your Topic is a REPOST

10. Content copied from other site

11. OP keeps asking for Vote Ups, Suggestions & Comments

12. OP bumps the topic multiple times

13. OP keeps messaging the Admin/Mods to make his deal FPD

14. Obvious price mistake on the store (website)

15. Coupon applicable for another product is being applied to the deal

16. Mounting to unethical means to get the deal

17. Price comparisons missing

18. Coupon valid for a short time or deal valid for a short time

19. Deal is not presentable, i.e. it is difficult to make out ‘what is the deal’ or ‘how to get the deal’

20. We missed your deal because of error on our part

21. Posting CHEAP titles such as Cheapest on earth, Dirt Cheap, Cheapest in the universe, Cheaper than previous all FPD, Cheapest ever, Cheapest online etc.

22. Good deal but very less likes & suggestions

23. Deal posted in wrong section

24. Deal/Product is restricted to only certain group of people in terms of usage

25. Because not all deals can be made FPD

The last reason is the most common too… If the product is priced cheapest then it does not necessarily mean that it will hit the FP!

Some FAQ’s:

1. My deal has 15 likes & 15 suggestions…Why hasn’t it still made it to FP?

• Likes & Suggestions are just a part of the FP selection process. It takes hardly 10 seconds to suggest & vote up a deal but we discuss the deal at length before promoting.
  Also we’ve observed that Likes & Suggestions are being given by people in a kind of an alliance…. i.e If i Vote Up & Suggest your deal…You too will do the same. This is happening with many people.
  This surely increases the no. of likes & suggestions for your Topic but it decreases the value of likes & suggestions for us while discussing the deal.

2. My deal is the cheapest…Why hasn’t it still made it to FP?

• As said before, being cheapest is not the only criteria for a FPD. With so many stores around it is obvious that each and every product would be for the lowest price at one or the other store. There are many other parameters on which a deal is judged before promoting it to FP.

3. My deal is cheaper than last FPD…Why hasn’t it still made it to FP?

• Being cheaper than the last FPD should never be considered as a criteria for deal being promoted to Front Page. As mentioned above, prices of products would fall/rise continuously. The deal being considered awesome 2 or 3 months back and hitting the FP might not be appealing today even if the prices have gone down some reasons being – the product might have been deemed obsolete, there are better products in similar price range now, the store offering low price is not having good reviews… etc etc…
  Remember always, price is only one criteria and not the only criteria for any deal.

Some Tips from my side:

1. Everyone look for variety in the deals, so try to post more deals from the non electronic category.
   Remember we are DesiDime and not DesiElectronics
2. Add pics, reviews & comparisons for reference.
3. Give proper details on ‘How to get the deal’ including the details of coupon used if any.
4. Don’t aim for an FPD while posting the deal. Post the deal in a manner which you think will help someone buy it.
5. Share the link to the previous best price on DD for that product.
6. Don’t get offended by any negative comment and try to take it in a +ve way.
7. Never message Mods/Admins to make your deal FP.
8. Don’t bump the Topic unnecessarily .
9. Give both Pros & Cons of the product.
10. Follow all the rules

I hope now, this topic will help people who seek an answer to the question – “Why wasn’t my post made FPD?” and will also help everyone to post quality deals in a presentable manner.
