MG is a brand owned by Chinese SAIC motors.

Every day Chinese phones explode due to cheap battery. If EV batteries explode, you will be known as a terrorist who died in a car bomb.

Budget+Chinese Car=deadly combination.

No thanks, I shall stick to TATA EVs.

I own both a Tata harrier and a Hector.

MG’s service commitment is 10x better than TATA

I know we all lookup to home grown brands but they’re just not there yet.

dont buy ev . Battery replacement cost is 40% of car value. U end up paying more than fossil car . So think twice

Tata provides 8 years / 1.6 Lakh km* warranty on battery & motor. And battery cost is going down and fossil fuel cost is going up. Do the math before outright suggesting not to by EV.

Tata does not manufacture the battery. It is assembled at TATA autocomp systems Pune. The cells are outsourced/Imported. Don’t know who is the source

tata just assembles the battery pack. the battery cells come from china.

Deal Subedar Deal Subedar

I was not aware that they are importing batteries from China. I was under impression that they are manufacturing them locally with the help of Tata Power and Tata Chemicals !!

I’m sure they will manufacture their own batteries in near future.

My uncle dumped his MG Hector for Kia Seltos and a neighbour sold his Hector after 8 months for Nexon EV.They were upset as Hector proved quite inferior and powerless in comparison to it’s rivals.I have come across many people disappointed with Hector’s dismal show. It’s certainly no match for Tata Nexon EV.

The X Factor / USP of Tata is it’s ecosystem.Tata Motors is working with other Tata group companies including Tata Power, Tata Chemicals,TCS,Tata Autocomp,Tata Elxsi,Tata Technologies,Tata Capital,Tata Motors Finance and Croma.AFAIK it’s going to create an e-mobility ecosystem called Tata uniEVerse.Tata owners are gonna get access to several e-mobility services including charging solutions, and financing options.

Like Tata AIG has launched comprehensive EV insurance policies for car buyers.Tata Electronics is developing hi-tech electronics components & semi-conductors.Tata Auto Comp has tied up with Tellus Power Green to supply AC and DC fast chargers.

Tata Power has partnered with Lodha Developers to install EV charging stations in all its residential and commercial projects and it will be accessible to all residents and visitors who are Tata EV owners. It owns the largest public charging network in India with charging stations in 50+ cities and an app to find nearby charging stations.I have heard that it is also in talk with petroleum companies to build charging stations at fuel pumps. It aims to build over 10K charging stations by 2030.MG certainly gonna lack such vast netowrk.

Tata Chemicals is gonna acquire British battery manufacturer Johnson Matthey to increase it’s battery production. It has also partnered with ISRO to use its cell technology.

The government has sanctioned Rs 18K crore for the PLI scheme which is aimed at manufacturing Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) batteries locally with objective to turn India into a global hub for the manufacture of electric vehicles and cut down the cost of EVs so that people can prefer electric vehicles over gasoline vehicles. Many manufacturers including Hyundai,Ola,Mahindra,Exide,Reliance and L&T have already applied for this scheme. It’s time to bid adieu to Chinese crap coming in the form of battery bombs! 😊

Tata aims to recycle 500 tonnes of used Li-ion batteries, to recover valuable metals such as lithium, cobalt, nickel etc.The stock of the company was up by over 90% in 2021.Nexon EV’s sale is around 71.4% of all passenger EV sales in EV market and Tata is aiming to launch 10 new EVs by 2025 including an upgraded Nexon EV by mid-2022.

Tata is taking EV segment very seriously and has a separate subsidiary Tata Motors EVco Limited to handle it’s EV business. So while Tata Ecosystem is providing a better value for money service,Tata Nexon EV is without a doubt more bang for the buck! Tata is gonna be the flag bearer of Indian EV revolution for sure!!!

one questions which is major source of electricity? Think twice before buying electric vehicles

Deal Subedar Deal Subedar
Link Copied

I think you are hinting towards coal powered electricity generation plants being the primary source of electricity generation currently and since they contribute to ~50% of the total electricity generated. And also contribute close to 45% of countries total Co2 emission.

In layman’s terms, 50% of the electricity used by EV’s comes from the number 1 contributor to CO2 emission however the other 50% comes from a clean source. And since EV’s do not have tailpipe emission, they will not contribute towards 27% CO2 emission by ICE vehicles. And you add in savings on foreign reserves by cutting down on import of Petrol/Diesel, id does make sense to switch over to EV’s.

The problem with our country is ‘We want to save money while we have nothing to eat’. In electricity context, we are steadily ‘electrifying’ villages as we are not there yet, using electricity generated by coal powered plants and still trying to get our emissions down.

We will get closer to the ‘ideal’ situation but then we need to support and keep alive something which contributes to the cause positively, may be not be to the extent we want it to be but there are bright possibilities that in future it will, taking about EV’s here.

Logo ko deshbhakti ka aisa paath padaya jaata hai media dawara ki Chinese chinese hai, india India hai.
Without getting in detail how china became world leader in electronics manufacturing and many other hub for parts all over the world.
All these news channel will teach you bullshit and when you ask questions why our country isn’t investing to beat china, first the regime will blame previous regime and if you still don’t agree get ready to labeled as Anti national.

The truth is best tech at best price will rule market and not one sided patriotism with no development to offer.

So be in your matrix world of hate china= patriotism logic and don’t question your leaders.

So you think China became world leader in electronic, manufacturing or any other field just by the means of investment?
They achieved it through reforms and some of those were pretty hard on common man.
For starters, do look for documentaries around how China reformed Shanghai City to the ultra modern city that we know of today.

Don’t look at success alone, do try to understand what it takes to be that successful.
As far as our country is concerned, its at a startup level right now but heading in the right direction.

By the way China’s Xi allowed to remain ‘president for life’ as the 2 term limit is removed. That’s China for you.

Its an inner secret that Indian Govt has already using Unity generator that’s the reason we are getting un-intrupped power supply unless there is any maintenance.

Did you know that with the current crop of technological advancement in cars, there is slow but definite move towards government control of cars…

Also the infra for electric companies are major monopolies that are focused towards government control of cars… limiting individual freedom. People will be regulated to death!

Imagine, diesel fuel can be transported and filled without knowing where you have purchased it from… Whereas, the electric car would track where you are in realtime, and know your usage completely…..

You are obviously ill informed. Most EVs have batteries built in China. Including Tata EVs.

Deal Cadet Deal Cadet

There is 8 year warranty on the battery. You will make up the cost of the vehicle by then.

Not al all. Almost everything in the Tata EVs comes from China. The battery, motor, controller, AC DC converter, screens, transmission and so on.

They won’t. Tata hasn’t set up any battery manufacturing plant. They were planning one but they haven’t started. It would take at least 5 years.

Take a look at the official document submitted by Tata itself to the government and see who is listed as the manufacturer of the battery, motor and controller. There is absolutely no EV battery manufacturer in India.
