About Coolpad Note 3 Plus 16gb

Having tasted success with the Coolpad Note 3 and its more modest version- Coolpad Note 3 Lite, the Chinese smartphone giant introduced the Coolpad Note 3 heating up the sub ₹10000 market. This phone inherits success as a starting point. Let us review if it can offer the same incentives to the users like the previous two versions.

When benchmarked against Coolpad Note 3, little has changed in terms of the look and feel. You have the same old glass front, metal rim and plastic back. But compare it to other Chinese phones that dominate the Indian smartphone market and you would be forced to call it elegant though at 9 mm thickness it can’t yet be called a sleek phone. The Note 3 Plus is powered by Coolpad's signature Cool UI 6.0 sitting atop Android 5.1 Lollipop. The interface is pretty cool and includes an app drawer.

The Coolpad Note 3 Plus has a 13 MP f/2.0 rear camera that comes with 5 element HD lens. It also has the standard features as its predecessor and much like the Note 3, is quite brilliant when it comes to outdoor photography. In terms of night photography it has the same shortcomings but still generates decent colours. The front 5 MP camera is still uninspiring, but good for video calls and outdoor selfies. On the storage front you get 16 GB of internal storage and a dedicated microSD slot that allows you to add another 64 GB of space.

The predecessors were big on performance but when you pack a new version with the same processor it doesn’t quite arouse the right kind of emotions.  Coolpad Note 3 Plus comes with the same 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek 6753 processor. With 3GB RAM it offers good performance with games and multi-tasking in this segment but with no improvement to talk about. It is a victim of its own legacy.  Connectivity wise the phone supports 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, A-GPS and Bluetooth 4.0 and A2DP.

The phone has 5.5 inch IPS LCD capacitive full-HD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels which is the only major improvement over Note 3. There is marked improvement in colour output and sharpness. It offers wider viewing angles which are a big plus and also the 401 ppi pixel density separates it totally from the original Note 3. The non-removable 3000 mAh Li-Ion battery stays the same which is little surprising as the phone comes with an HD screen.

Great Specs, Good Price but Little Improvement from Original

There are two other phones from the same stable and yet there is marginal improvement in the third version in terms of design, performance and specs. It seems like Coolpad wants competition between its own phones! Nonetheless it is a good package if you look at the price category.

Why Should You Buy?

·         Good Performance – While the performance quotient hasn’t changed much compared to the original it is still good for this price range. And you would able to multi-task easily and have great gaming experience.

·         Great Battery – The 3000 mAh battery is good when we take a look at the competition that the phone faces in the market. With a single charge users would be able to enjoy fair amount of music, Internet browsing, gaming and videos and yet not run out of juice.

·         Fingerprint Sensor – Like the other two Coolpad Note 3s the fingerprint senor is amazing to use as it is responsive and accurate and lets you create shortcuts for one-hand use.
