About OnePlus X (16 GB)

The success of OnePlus 2 in India has encouraged the Chinese manufacturer to try and compete in the mid-rage market in India where sale volumes are highest. The new OnePlus X is a slightly smaller version of its predecessor and would give the brand entry into a new segment where huge opportunity awaits it. Let’s take a closer look at the specs and features of this phone to see whether it has all it needs to become successful.

DESIGN & PLATFORM

At first glimpse you will notice that the OnePlus X has completely new design elements compared to the OnePlus 2. The glass back with the metal rim around the body looks brilliant. The slightly curved edges on the glass front add to the look and make it one of the cutest looking phones in the market. It is slimmer compared to the OnePlus 2 and has comfortably placed buttons. It runs on Oxygen 2.2.3 a tailored version of Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop), and it is upgradable to 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). The OS is similar to stock Android though it offers detailed app permission screen something that users concerned about privacy would love.

CAMERA & STORAGE
Talking about the camera the OnePlus X has a 13 MP f/2.2 rear camera with Phase Detection Autofocus and Single Tone LED Flash. It is nice and easy to shoot images with the camera and offers good colour and lighting output. There is a small issue with noise in low lighting conditions but this doesn’t take away much from the camera. In the front, you get an 8MP sensor that would allow you shoot impressive selfies taking help from the camera app. You get 16 GB of internal storage space with the option to expand by another 256 GB via microSD card using the SIM 2 slot, which is kind of disappointing for people who would love using two SIMs on the phone.

PERFORMANCE & CONNECTIVITY
The phone uses the Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC with 2.3 GHz clock speed making it a tough competitor to beat in this category. The 3GB of RAM complements the processor well as it seamlessly performs even with heavy games without lagging. However there is a slight heating issue with the phone which users can easily bear. In terms of connectivity, the phone supports multiple 4G LTE bands and also offers support for Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, A-GPS, GLONASS and BDS.

DISPLAY & BATTERY

The OnePlus X has a 5.0 inch AMOLED Capacitive Touchscreen that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and 441 ppi pixel density which makes it one of the best phones in this category in terms of display. The colour output is brilliant to say the least as are the viewing angles. The battery is perhaps the biggest let down for such a brilliant phone as it comes with 2525 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery which may not last a full day for users who like pushing their phone to the limit.

Awesome Display, Great Performance but Poor Battery with Good Camera

All in all the OnePlus X is a great package sans the battery which is something surprising for a phone that is priced in the medium range. But it does well in terms of performance and is a treat to use when playing games or watching videos.

Why Should You Buy?

Good Performance:
It comes with one of the best processors you can ask for at this price and combined with 3GB of RAM doles out great performance that would impress users and make an ideal gaming station for the avid gamers.

Brilliant Display: Compare the display of this phone to any other in this price segment and you won’t be able to find too many that would stand out. Watching videos on this phone or clicking images is quite an experience.
