About OPPO Neo 7 4G (White, 16 GB)(1 GB RAM) White

Within a few years of entering the Indian market with premium phones, Oppo realized the prospects in the entry-end market. With the segment accounting for bulk of the sales the company has gone aggressive in this segment with the Oppo Neo 7. It promises decent specs and in this review we shall take a look at this phone at length.

This isn’t the segment where design and looks matter most to the customers and yet Oppo offers one of the coolest looking phones in Neo 7. The bi-metallic curvy frame blends well with plastic at the back. The flat design principle separates it from the rest of the competitors. It is a nice and comfortable phone to hold in your palms and easy-to-use for one hand operation. Color OS 2.1 a forked version of Android Lollipop 5.1 runs on this phone and unlike the complicated UI that we are used to seeing from Chinese manufacturers the Oppo Neo 7 is one of the easiest phones to use.

The phone comes with an 8 MP f/2.0 primary camera that has autofocus and LED Flash. Outdoor shots are pretty impressive on this phone as it does offer good colour output and clarity. But shoot indoors or in ambient lighting conditions and you would see good bit of noise much like other smartphone cameras at this price range. You get a 5 MP front shooter which is average in terms of sharpness and colour clicks acceptable selfies in good lighting conditions. Shifting to storage, this phone offers 16 GB of internal storage and the ability to expand another 256 GB using the microSD card slot.

The phone runs on Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 processor with 1.2GHz clock speed. It isn’t a workhorse of a phone and comes with 1GB of RAM which makes it good enough to play the basic games as it shows lag and heating issues with heavy games and applications. However the performance is good enough for its segment. As far as connectivity is concerned, this is a 4G LTE phone supporting multiple bands. It also supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP and A-GPS.

Display-wise, the Oppo Neo 7 comes with one of the best displays in the price segment. It has a 5.0 inch IPS LCD Capacitive Touchscreen with 540 x 960 pixels resolution and 220 ppi pixel density.  The viewing angles are decent for a phone in this range and even the colour output will surely give users something to cheer about. The phone comes with a 2420 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery that will easily meet any user’s needs for a day.

Premium Looks, Good Specs for Its Price

All in all, the Neo 7 is a good phone in its price range. Compare it to others that sell for similar price and there are good reasons one can choose them including its specs.

Why Should You Buy?

Look and Feel:
It doesn’t look like just another entry end phone but matches the appearance of phones that are priced almost double its price, making it a good reason to choose this phone.

Good Performance: This isn’t a high performance category and you can’t expect top-of-the-line features. But for the hardware that sits under the hood, the phone doles out great performance.
