About VIVO V1 (White, 16 GB)(2 GB RAM) White

Since it made its entry into the Indian market, Vivo has tasted good success in the mid-range market. Its products come loaded with features and specs, which have been well received by Indian consumers. With the V1, the company expects to further consolidate its position in the market. Let us review this phone and take a look at its features and specs to see if it offers real value to the customers.

If the first look says it all, the phone definitely scores on its look and feel. The magnesium alloy body and a nice rim around the standard rectangular body with curved edges do make the phone look cool. The glass front complements the design with the buttons comfortably placed on the right side of the phone. It is 6.8 mm thick and this makes it a great package in terms of design and form. The phone runs on Funtouch OS 2.1 atop Android Lollipop 5.0 and has quite a user-friendly interface.

Talk about the camera and you get a 13 MP rear sensor which comes with Autofocus and LED Flash. Try shooting outdoors in daylight and the camera captures great details and colour. In low lighting conditions and indoors, it does have some issues with noise but it isn’t something that should discourage you from buying this phone. The front camera has a 5 MP sensor which is average in terms of its image output and works well only in good lighting conditions. You get 16 GB of internal space on the storage front with the option of adding another 256 GB using a hybrid microSD card slot which can be discouraging for some users.

Under its hood the Vivo V1 has a Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor which clocks 1.2GHz Add to it 2GB of RAM and you get a phone that is good enough for most users. But it isn’t a gamer’s phone as it tends to lag and also heat up when running heavy games. This processor has been there for quite some time now and has become dated.  Shifting focus to connectivity and the V1 supports multiple 4G LTE bands. It also comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS and Infrared port making it a good deal.

The Vivo V1 has a decent 5.0 inch IPS LCD Capacitive Touchscreen offering 720 x 1280 pixels resolution at 294 ppi pixel density and has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. In one word, the display looks good and offers you easy and comfortable viewing angles. The colours come along much better than we are used to seeing in most smartphones at this price range. As far as the battery is concerned you get a 2300 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery which makes the phone a little underpowered. While it will last a day with average use, heavy users may need to invest in a power bank

Killer Looks, Average Performance and Battery

Vivo V1 fails to impress for the price it commands as there are several other phones in similar price range that offer faster processor and bigger battery. On the looks front, the phone is ahead of its rivals though.

Why Should You Buy?

For all those buyers who want something cool and exciting in their palms, the Vivo V1 is a good pick. It does away with the standard look of most Android phones in the mid-range market and offers a sleek device in your palms.

Infrared Port – Infrared ports aren’t common in this price range.
These have made a re-entry from near dead and can be quite useful for the users, often doubling up as a TV remote on your phone.
