About VIVO V3 Max (Gold, 32 GB)

It took Vivo only a few years to become the fifth biggest smartphone seller in the country and while doing so, it has come up with a host of interesting smartphones with its premium V-Series creating loyal fan following in the country. The V3 Max is its latest offering and considered a powerful performer for its category. Let’s figure out where it stands amidst competition.

You look at the phone and it is easy for you to dismiss it as another chunky smartphone that is unimpressive in its looks. But when you pick it up in your hand it isn’t that bad. The metal unibody design adds to its premium feel with the dull finish on the metal creating a distinctive appearance. With buttons on one side of the body it can be used with one hand despite its large size. The phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with the Vivo’s own Funtouch OS 2.5 atop offering a user friendly UI. It’s a single-layered interface and hence there are no app drawers and quite a distinctive settings menu.

The Vivo V3 Max comes with a 13 MP primary camera that has Autofocus and LED Flash. The camera is a little disappointing as the images especially in low light and indoors have issue with noise. But surprisingly the brilliant camera app does offer you good shooting options in daylight conditions.  On the front, you get an 8 MP camera that is decent for selfies and the app offers you lots of enhancement options. Moving to storage, the phone offers 32 GB internal storage and the option to expand 256 GB using the hybrid SIM 2 slot, which some users may not find too convenient.

In terms of performance, the V3 Max is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC which is quite a new processor with four cores clocking 1.8 GHz and the remaining 1.4 GHz.  With 4GB of RAM, it is a workhorse in your palm and whether you are a gamer or run heaviest of utility apps you would fall in love with the phone. Talking about connectivity, the phone supports multiple 4G LTE bands. It also has a front mounted Fingerprint Sensor, and supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 with A2DP, A-GPS, GLONASS and BDS.

The Vivo V3 Max perhaps steals the show with its display. It has a 5.5 inch IPS LCD Capacitive Touchscreen offering 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution at 401 ppi pixel density with awesome viewing angles. The color output is accurate and vibrant with the screen doing well even under bright sunlight. As far as battery goes, the phone has a 3000 mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery that would easily meet the needs of any user for a day.  The phone allows dual-engine charging that does help charge the phone faster than competitors which is another great selling point.

Great Performance, Good Display but Poor Looks

If there is one thing that lets this phone down, it has to be its looks. When you take a look at the dimensions you won’t believe that the phone is 7.6 mm thick because it looks bulky. But for its performance and display quality, it is a decent buy for any user.

Why Should You Buy?

Great Performance:
As the specs would tell you, Snapdragon 652 SoC, eight cores and 4 GB of RAM and you don’t need any explanation of its performance. It is a monster in its category with the performance really impressive.

Good Display – While V3 Max may not have the best display in its price range, it definitely is among the better ones. The colour output is brilliant with the images sharp and crisp.
