I think they’ve limited it to a trial run in Hyderabad, not unlike their Kirana for Bangalore atm, just because it’ll be expensive as hell in Delhi/Mumbai et al. Also they’ve launched prime so Pantry may roll out slowly throughout the country at a slower pace because Prime will require much of the three billion dollars that were earmarked, earlier in the year, just for India.

But Surprised some people have problems with 499 for subscription… Come on, Its not for a MONTH, Its for a YEAR. Less then 50rs a month and you get next day or 2 days delivery free that too with no minimum order. So now you don’t need to fill your cart with fillers or get past 499rs.
How many times you have seen Discount on product but don’t buy it just because of this minimum 499rs for free delivery barrier? Also not to forget 2 months free Amazon Prime and early access to lightning deals . But Problems for next two months as there will be tons of people using this service. After 2 months Real Amazon Prime service will start. I am Already sold for this service.

I would not completely agree here. You can indeed buy Kindle ebooks using GC balance and yes Kindle books do qualify as digital content..

My 2 cents, at this price, it is worth it. My friend is having US amazon prime membership for 100$ a year. You also get free access to prime videos. In India they will also launch prime video services shortly. Once that happens then it will be a good deal. Also the per month cost is lower than 50 Rs per month. Can’t get better than this currently.

Nah, this is indeed a big development, the repercussions of which will be debated for a long time and will only be noticed/felt after about a year.
