I tried with a few items clubbed,but got a msg telling the items couldn’t be shipped to the address given

For Electronics anything more than 150-200$ and these custom guys here will rip you off. I bought a laptop for around 1000$ and asked the seller to change the invoice value to 300$. He did it. And, since before also I bought a 350$ Camera which they charged me around 3.5k import but after including that also I was saving 6k. So, I went through it. But, when the Laptop reached India,Fedex guys called me and said that the Import duty was 10k and so I have to go to their office and release it. On listening 10k I was like wtf. And, then I came to know that these custom guys can ask for any random amount. Depends on their mood.
So, I would not recommend this to anyone. Yeah less than 150$ value,you can always go for this option.

May be some accessories for electronics for a free kilo of shipping why not

I asked him to get a led tv,but reconsidering the idea since US tvs have this NTSC issue apart ftom the step down converter trouble….Not worth it I guess,but would like to know if anyone’s using a US based ntsc tv here

Custom guys dont always go on declared value they first find the market value of the product and then decide customs on it .. if it was always on declared value people would smuggle things easily.. though due to loads sometimes people get away coz not every1 does their duty rite

From what i know if the product is 5k or below and declared as a gift no customs apply

Ya its correct. Pack your item as gift ad if its below 5k you will be relieved from customs. And yeah for buying Laptop always ask seller to mark it used after decreasing the price in invoice. This was the reason why I was charged 10k for my laptop. If It was marked used then they would have never catch it. I learnt this afterwards from one of my friends who is a regular customer of Amazon.

Thats the biggest trouble with paypal. One cant order without a pan card. And, its sad.

What’s the difficulty in getting a PAN card? Any resident of India can get one.
