Also, you did the fitting yourself? Do you have any prior experience in repairing mobiles?

Yes, it is full assembly.
I had ordered phone for one of my friends also who got screen broken.
I purchased it for him… he is quite expert in such things (playing with hardware) and replaced it successfully.

Nice info. That guy takes the entire phone apart Though i’m open to learning new things but this is too tough on my patience. Screwing even one thing wrong will spoil the handset entirely.

Any idea if service center will replace it for us if we take the LCD panel to them?

I had contacted the service center. They told me they do not have the parts. On asking whether they would replace if I got the parts myself, she said its better to get it repaired outside, as they dont have authorization to repair models they dont support in a particular region.

1. Yes, LG Service center will not repair the same for sure.

I agree with Altruist!
It is not very difficult but it need too much patience which I don’t have
He took about 60 minutes to re-fit the new assembly

Thank God it still isn’t but one bad fall is all it takes isn’t it. That’s why preparing for it if need arises. If its LG’s own service center, then doubtful. We have to enquire those outsourced service centers like Accel service center. They may be willing to do it for a fee.

But we can still lure those LG guys with offer of paying money and not asking any receipt for service done. Then they may help out. Mainly its a 30 day warranty on service done by these branded service centers, which is why they may be refusing. If we take that out of equation, maybe they’ll be willing to do it.

I have been using optimus G since 3 months now … But few things i found really complex like rooting and Enabling wifi hotspot …. Now most important for me is Changing Android id. I saw a few people saying here that they could change their android id with Custom Roms. It sounds too complex using custom rom’s. Any way to change android id without using custom ROM ? I used Android id changer but that change id button is disabled. In case i go for custom ROM , which one is best and safest with Kitkat ? Also is it possible to come back to original android from a customized ROM ? Would appreciate if anyone can explain the process for installing the best custom ROM which has an option to change android id too..

Developed a fine hairline crack and now the touch wont work!! arrgggggggg
Had a Motorola Atrix with Gorilla glass, its digitizer broke into a million pieces yet its touch worked with no qualms.

Highly Disappointed, looks like a defective batch was sold to us at a cheap price, Lol – there ’aint a thing as free dinner

It was in an empirecase dual tough case, didn’t matter as the micro USB male fell on the display side.

they are scratch and touch resistance and not break resistance.

Survived without any damage, even not single scratch at all. It’s in Diztronic case.:cool:

@marketdimer : Agreed. But Gorilla glass or BS glass ,no phone glass is supposed to be so delicate.
BTW they do promote it as a scratch resistant glass that is harder and tougher to break.

No intention of testing my luck again after knowing what happen to your device;-)

Mine was also dropped on the footpath due to sudden collision , and the phone dropped flying away on the street.
