@rv2012 What should I do to get all the contacts and messages back while doing factory reset? I’m such a dumbo.
Note: I transferred all the images, videos and apk files to a PC via ShareIt. Hope that’s a smart move.

Not sure about the messages but your contacts will be restored back once you relogin with your google account (provided you have synced your contacts earlier in same google account).

Use “My backup pro” app, you can backup a lot of things including sms, call logs, sys settings … and you can store them either on interna storage/cloud
and you can restore them again after reset but make sure you use the restore option as soon as you finish the reset as it wipes the pre-existing sms or call logs
Good thing is you dont need any root to backup and call logs

Internal storage? Will it not be wiped off during reset? Did you mean to say external storage?

Yeah its internal storage
All the backup files will be stored under this folder by name “rerware” which will be under the root folder of your internal storage
Just copy that folder to your desktop/laptop and restore it again after reset and use this app
This is the problem with technology up-gradation. Why have the removed the simple Copy/Move to SIM feature (for both contacts and sms) in Android?
@Magus wrote:
@getready Did you just suggest me a paid app?
462 bucks. Data backup is available only with Pro.
BTW, when we archive an SMS, does it get archived in our google account? If yes, how do I retrieve it?
Amazon offers this app for free every now and then from their app store
I got it that way and using it since then
You can also use titanium backup but its also paid app and root required
not sure about archiving sms thing
Edit : This free app seems to backup and restore sms, try it once it has got lots of good reviews too

You really seem to be as old as your DP suggests? Or are you the DP guy itself?
:p

I am assuming that was a rhetorical question. You should use the many apps available to backup the contacts and SMS.
I already use the free app suggested by @getready for backing up my SMS messages. You can try that as well. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=c...

Can’t as I don’t work for Google’s Android team.

Well, there are links to download the Pro version of My Backup without paying a penny. Do you want me to put a link?
And on a serious note, if you wont be expecting the device back after sending, can I please PM my address instead? And I promise, I wont merely pray for the heating issues to persist, I will even pray the device gets soft bricked.
@Magus Chill and have some booty sweat
Everything is going to be fine one day ; all you need to do is wait

Sorry for not replying to you earlier, I didnt saw the notifications. It seems dimers helped you to reset your phone with backup etc. Let me know if you still need any help, you can directly pm me anytime.
No need to send your device to me, I’m using 6.0.1 for a month now and havnt come across any battery issues. So I think your phone will be fine too.
Android 6.0.1 not solved low space problem. Can anyone post a simple method to root & use link2sd in this spice android one phone so i can move all preinstalled apps to memory card.
Both using pc & only using device methods please.

“Donated” ??
I can relate to donor’s emotions because even I have once donated a 15k+ phone in year 2009 to a needy person while travelling in a crowded bus in Delhi. Let me tell you, after that I have never made a mistake to buy such an expensive (expensive for me) phone

You browse DD on this phone
@getready you donated this phone last week I thought you must have donated some iPhone since you were saying it as your primary number
It’s ok. Ping me if you find something.
