Received my phone 2 hours ago ..(courtesy shivaa bro) and using it since and phone didn’t heated once .. .. Connect ed to WiFi and updated miui version.. played games for 20-25 min.. Capture 5/to 6 pics and lots more and still exploring it .. It’s awesome phone for price range of 6k

Even I got the phone I ordered for my mom.. I could remove all the unnecessary google apps without rooting.. I loaded the phone with apps and games mom usually uses.. Phone didnt heat up till now.. I clicked 5-6 pictures and touched the camera.. It wasnt hot but in my mind i was expecting it to be.. I wouldnt have noticed that heat had I not heard about the heating issue.. All in all I am happy with 6k i spent..

P.S. I have not charged the battery yet.. Will see if I have any heating issues that time and update.

P.P.S. This phone was a surprise gift for my mom. My VFM came right at the moment I saw the excitement and joy on face of my mom..

received phone 4-5hrs back at my native place..my brother was exploring it for 4-5hrs..
no internet use, he just checked miui features for couple of hrs and thankfully phone didn’t heat up!!

he connected it to charger and it heated a little bit near camera area after 15-20min..

miui version is 34 i guess..I need to update it to 36..

Can somebody please confirm if heating issues would go after updating to 36 version??

Also how to forcefully update it (from setting→about phone?) even if there’s no notification for miui update?

but how can you update?it already cme with latest rom..

My advice is not to update if your phone is working fine (if it’s not broken don’t fix it!). Wait for confirmation that the bug has been fixed before updating. Till then, enjoy the phone. P.S Received mine 4 hrs back with 36.0 stable and no overheating issues till now with regular use (installing apps, browsing), thank god.

i wanna buy it it but confused , i am not afraid of heating issue it is normal now a days so with back cover it is no issue , but main issue is ram management , i have moto e and doing all thing (playing games, browsing chrome with 11-12tabs , purchasing , shopping etc) but still it is lagged very very less , my main purpose is with redmi 1s i wanna open multiple window ie 3-4 windows at a time or wanna play games like fifa and ashphalt8 or and browsing with chrome with 11-12tabs so confused will it work in this case or not ?
any true user please help me and reply to my these confusions .

and i also accept who are users of Galaxy S4 , Xperia Z Series will not like it but if any moto e users think it is better than moto e then tell me
and please dont tell me hardare config. bcoz in paper things always looks good but its real test performs in practical field in performance .

Mine is showing 200 MB free without rooting and only a few extra apps installed so let’s wait and hope they release a temporary fix till the time Kitkat is released along with MIUI 6.

I also received my redmi 1s today. It was on version 34 and it was heating. after update to v36, it heating is minimal. Also I rooted my phone.

it happened when phone was charging..

so i guess better to update to a stable version
so if update is not notified automatically, can we check for update explicitly?

Received my Redmi1s yesterday on 12th from the 9th sept purchase. was very apprehensive after reading the negative reviews of heating of the phone. many times i thought of canceling my order. wont be reviewing the phone as that has already been done by our eminent reviewers. i have been using a samsung I9070 galaxy S advance for for the last 3 years. it has been rooted after the warranty period and is running on kitkat 4.4.4 with carbon custom rom.

My experience with the new redmi1s:
1. it has not been rooted. it is running stock version 36 (after OTA update approx 22mb).
2. it has many of the customizations available in the custom rom of my previous galaxy S advance.
3. the phone does get warm on continued use but not hot (that’s okay for me). maybe not because i havent played graphics intensive games.
4. i have been using it continuously on wifi, battery life is average (as expected from 2000mAh).
5. Normal browsing, downloading, app installation taking photos dont stress the phone.
6. im using the default theme and wall paper.
7. the camera app has never force closed.
8. both the front and the main cameras have nice picture quality (much better than what i get from my samsung). though i feel the flash strength is a bit low.

All in all im very much satisfied with the phone (may be because i didnt expect much after reading all those negative reviews).

In short it satisfies the price tag.
in my opinion the kitkat update will definitely make it a better performing phone.

I received my phone yesterday and when I started the phone it was heating very much near to camera. My phone had MIUI version 34 and I updated to version 36. After the updating, the heating issue has reduced but not gone.

On searching through the MiUI forum I found a code to find battery temperature or redmi 1s. It is *#*#4636#*#* We obtain battery temperature using this code by dialing this number.

Dial *#*#4636#*#*
Select Battery Information —> Battery Temperature

Now the battery temperature shows 35 degree (on average) during inactivity/standby. But if I play temple run or any other game or browsing internet for 20 mins it reaches to 43 degree (approx.). Battery also drains fast.

I want to know that whether these values are normal? people who don’t having the heating issue in their redmi 1s please check this value and reply. Please state your phones battery temperature. It will help others also to identify whether they got a faulty product or not.

I hope now people have understood that this mobile is no Moto G-killer.

But is it better than Moto E? Yes, it is. Just wait for the Kitkat update & then compare. I’m sure those who are disappointed but still went ahead & took the delivery will be pleasantly surprised.

moto e is better

update to latest update version 36 and then root, set cpu to 1.3 GHz and remove non usable apps. no problem of heat or less ram

I am using Redmi 1s from last 18 hours and phone is still good to go another couple of hours.
So I don’t see any battery issue.
Its performing quite decently. I rooted it an hour ago but haven’t removed any apps or anything.
Played temple run 2 for an hour, whatsapp is always running, on wifi for about 5 hours, played music for about 3 hours(earphone), clicked few pics and then deleted each and every pic

First phone had little heating issue or may be it was me who was pretty cold that time. That phone is with my brother and he said nope its all fine no heating issue. Second phone I am using for time being(till flipkart delivers the cases) which is for my mother and found no issues at all.

And now if you guys call this a crappy phone then I surely don’t have any idea what good phone is.
