I am from bangalore. I have to first sell this headphone bro then only i can think of purchasing ATH M5x. OMG! i am not aged person. 26 oly. My age peoples not only most of the peoples like EDM Trance only. Thats the main reason for buying headphones. Purely unfit for my expectations. Have to find any old guy to sell this junk. ATH M50X is my type of headphones maintains balanced sound as well with deep and punchy bass. That’s y it is popular than any other headphones in market.

I have M50X lying around and yet to receive my HD 598 SE i heard its more comfortable than M 50X ?

there are a few differences to check if the hedphones are fake or original…google it and check for yourself!

@dinjoshi806 let us know the difference once you receive the HD 598 SE, I was eager to purchase an M50X however ended up buying HD 598 SE because of the Discount and overall review was Good. I found the overall headphone to be of very good Quality, sound is very crisp and clear however I do not have an AMP or a Sound card so cannot comment Much, there is a significant difference in overall sound quality if i plug into Audio port at back (connected Directly to the Motherboard) and the front Audio panel.

I think an AMP or an Additional Card will again improve the overall sound quality, experts please comment. Suggest me a good Sound card which can be used on this i do not want to invest Tons on money though

I have been using M50 (old coiled edition) from past 5 years. It is better sounding than the new M50x. Check out head-fi forums for more details. If I have written before in this thread what you need to know. If you are hip-hop/electronic etc listener, this headphone is not for you. The bass is not very emphatic. This headphone lies in the audiophile category, it’s best suited for listening to music. And you need a good source for able to listen these to their full potential. That means: Mp3 will not make a huge difference to your listening. Google: lossless formats. As I have written before you don’t necessarily need a amp but a decent sound card/DAC is highly recommended.

Edit: As for comfort M50 is not very comfortable. My ears hurt after 2 hours of listening. And I not even use the stock pads which are very uncomfortable. I use these: http://www.amazon.in/Brainwavz-Replacement-Memo...

It makes M50 very much bearable.

Edit 2: Those who are still confused. Google ‘U-shaped sound’ and ‘V-shaped sound’ difference. The M50x is V’shaped and closed-back, translation: suitable for movies and bassy music with no leakage and interference from outside. The HD 598 is U-Shaped and open-back, translation: suitable for more expansive sound and better overall sound with indoor listening preferably because of sound leak and interference from outside.

Even some authenticated headphones in amazon see the reviews they clearly mentioned sound quality is worst compare $150 dollar hd 598 and most telling that this is reduced quality headphones from the sennheiser. Company itself cheating…

A lot of Sennheiser equipments sold in India doesn’t even have the new ‘verification code’ but they are authentic. I myself have experienced the same. It’s the same with Logitech headphones too. So unless I myself encounter a counterfeit I won’t believe what ‘a few’ claim. Waiting for my pair of Hd 598.

M50x are bit over rated, I find my Vsonic Gr07 earphones way better than them, I just use m50x for movies,
Received my 598 today and they are 100% genuine.

How come in ebay they are selling this headphone which bought from black friday deal on amazon for 12k 15K. OLX no one interested to buy for even 8k. No exchange offers also coming for m50x. Those who are having m50x compare the sound quality with this headphone. If it’s good. Fate I’ll use this.

My frustration and fear is because of blindly i went ahead and bought these headphones since it’s high end costly headphone it should satisfy all music needs but after that only i learned about open cans and sound leakage. I used to travel chennai bangalore every week total 7 hrs journey and i used to listen EDM mostly then heard no bass in these headphones. I am not a melody or classical song listener. I like adtenaline thumping music. Finally i found this ATH M50X when searching best highend headphones. These exactly match my needs. And there is no negative or average reviews about m50x from both end users and tech geek reviews. I searched in amazon and find it was 8.7k using hike coupon it is only 7.5 that is about 2k only. OMG ! I felt i done a mistake lets sell this and buy m50x but 15k worth no one ready to buy it for 7.5k. Btw how to sell it in ebay?

you cant blame these headphone because
1. you don’t know a shit about headphones.
2. you just bough such expensive headphones without thinking or googling or even checking reviews.
3. you don’t know what point you want to prove posting all this crap.

Unfortunately, had to miss out on this great deal (very recently, invested quite a bit on buying mid-fi IEMs and PC Components. Hence, was on a tight budget).
