Wipro CFLs are of medium quality. At the MRP they are definitely not worth it. Till now, I’v not come across any CFLs that last as long as Philips.

Agree on the second part. Philips go really a long way.
Have to check out Wipro for the first time, though.

Most likely these Wipro CFLs may have been made by Philips. But obviously built cheaper and of lower quality than what they sell under their own brand.

Eg. of lowest CFL quality are those from Reliance. Wipro is somewhere in the middle.

is there any warranty on these CFL bulbs?

BTW, in DMART, most of the times, BOGO is there. Eveready CFLs, cost like 70 bucks, and 2 pencil cells are free. Dont know the quality difference though in Eveready and wipro

Had bought an LED 0.5 watt night lamp from Wipro and it went kaput within 10 days. Was in no mood to call their customer care and work out replacement. Always philips. My personal experience is that usually Wipro CFL start darkening and flicker at start within couple of months. And get shouted at by dad for wasting money on stupid brands.

It shows Rs. 240/- not Rs.170/-. It is cheating. Why u r misguiding the shopers. cha…..

But they marked it OOS yesterday to save their a**, it seems. Otherwise how would it be back in stock the very next day?

you have to be ..I got surya one from offline and in less than month it turned black from corner..though 1 yr warranty is there and since its offline so i need to go to retailer for exchange…for online, i guess vat bill is needed to get replacement from authorised dealer…

after that surya experience, the next i got was crompton and bajaj..philips is way expensive

I was at Metro Cash and Carry, Kanakpura Road, Bangalore last evening. They have the 14W Philips CFL for 99, which is a good deal. Picked up a couple.

a good deal…but avoid excessive use of cfl..they have mercury in them…hazardous for environment..

I don’t agree. Philips works out to be cheaper (if not the same) in the long run. Most significantly, it saves you the hassles of keeping preserving the invoice and going to claim warranty from wherever you bought it from. I’v never had to claim warranty on any Philips CFL till date.

Bajaj and Crompton is lower quality stuff. However, Crompton’s service was great – they even called me back to ask if the replacement was done…

My orders have been shipped through Gati courier. No previous experience with Gati. Are they as good as Bluedart/Fedex?
