Just smooth flow at very first attempt.

Yes Amoled are less heavy on batteries then compared to an IPS LCD but then Colours are also washed out in Amoled which has been the biggest issue with the Amoled so far . Also IPS is more vibrant and gives awesome visibility in daylight too . The colour reproduction in IPS is much more realistic compared to Amoled. All this comes at a cost of battery drain . But they have done a good job with providing 3050 mAH ! Also IPS LCD is suitable for higher resolutions compared to Amoleds due to the production costs involved. IPS wins anyday for me . They are far better than Amoleds for reading and i like the natural color tones of IPS displays.

But I really like the black levels of the AMOLED….Anywhoo a friend of mine ordered MI3 for me around 12.05PM today…Still its in confirmed state…Not even packed….

EDIT: they dispatched it couple of minutes after I wrote the above line ….May be they forgot to update my order…Packing,dispatch,inscan,shipping to my nearest hub all took place at the same minute…

Lucky you that is insanely fast, which courier?. Mine was ordered yesterday noon but its still stuck in bangalore bluedart, this usually doesn’t happen.BTW I’m also from TN.

IPS LCD full hd is the best.

I have it in my LG Optimus G Pro.

I cannot believe my eyes everytime I watch video or anything in full hd. Only seeing is believing, it’s so magical and magnificent.

I have had 2-3 Mobiles with super AMOLED. I like the screen on my G Pro much much better.

For me it’s way above amoled/super AMOLED.

All LG flagship g pro, g2, g3, g pro 2 have this ips LCD.

So howz that galaxy tab s with amoled display…Any body using it or tried one….’cause they are advertising it for its display…..Is it better than those tabs with ips displays….I know the blacks will be perfect in amoled, howz the rest…youtube reviews of tab s saying its way better than ips ones…

@borg trust me you will get used to 5 inch !! I had the same issues that i wanted my phone to be small and pocket sized ….. But once you become habitual to the bigger screen its pretty difficult to switch to smaller one !!! Trust me on this !! Been there

And accessories should be there on Flipkart within 2-3 days as per Xiaomi India. So hopefully we don’t have to wait more !!

I sure hope so. And I very well know you can get used to the bigger size too. Then its very difficult to adjust with the small… just like televisions. But the issue is of pocketability. I doubt this is going to fit into the pocket of a slim fit jeans. Thats the biggest issue by far. Would hate to have to carry a bag just for a phone! And if that be the case, then better to carry a tablet with voice call feature, LOL!

Hope the accessories are available soon, but I’m fairly sure they will not be priced half as well as the phone on FK. Anybody knows if at least screen guards are available somewhere where they are priced well? Chinese sites maybe? They they would take quite some time to reah…

Here are some pics finally. Apologies for the delay. Been really caught up. Havent even had the chance to play with the phone much. Akshay, The pictures of the SIM slot and speaker grille are just for you. Sorry about the picture quality. It has been totally overcast here and the pictures had to be taken in dim indoor light with mobile cam, in a haste.

One of the pictures has been taken using the Mi3 cam (with out of the box settings). Won’t be difficult to tell which one that is.

Some more observations:

Many of the pre-installed apps are mercifully uninstallable. Uninstalled Facebook and Flipkart apps first thing.

The silver grey color looks better in real. Didn’t like the color in pics, and that was one reason why I had half a mind to wait or more stocks with grey/black colour. But now I think I’ll be quite happy with this color. But I obviously haven’t seen any other colors in person, so my opinion is subject to change.

While this phone has very good specs for the price, it misses out on some of the very popular latest features like double tap to awaken, knock code (LG), and always on natural lang, contextual processors (Moto X). These features are arguably more useful than raw spec numbers, esp. for non. gamers.

Tried to post a review on FK, but it won’t let me! Seems they have disabled it. What are they scared of??

unsure if bringing in just the screenguard from Hk or Cn is worthwhile, but usual chinese sites and amazon china do have many accessories

thanks a lot for taking the time out to update others and yes, flipkart has a habit to remove low ratings reviews too. as a salesman they do not want to spoil the party before it starts. even 1 adverse review can make xiaomi re-look at other sellers to tie-up with [in the light of FK’s famous tech glitches at critical times]

hey guys got my hands on mi3 last evening. came with 60% battery. so firstthing I did is to keep it on charge. till 99% it went well. 99 to 100 takes dome 30 mins…god knows why. about thephone itsbuilt is awesome, ou don’t feel its an plastic crap unlike samsung. what I read earlier is true, its an beast. works super fast. first time android users like me would be lilttle messy as I had to install & install whatsapp 10 times to get the contacts synched with Watsapp contacts ( permission issues) the battery lasted with continuous usage of around 9 hours. did gaming, youtune, downloaded some 10-15 apps approx 300 MB downloaded. clicked some 100 odd pics. camera quality is quite decent except in low light area. inshort camera is good, battery is super & built is good as well. i shall give 8/10. any questions do lemme know.

Can anybody let me know where is the app drawer?? I couldn’t find it.
Also if i go to camera, the screen flickers like few horizontal lines running down.. Anybody facing this issue??

In MIUI, their is no app drawer. You can use some launcher if you are not used with it. This was the only inconvenience I had with MIUI during the gingerbread days.

No app drawer in MIUI.. if screen is flickering then there maybe a issue!

Received the device !!! On the first looks Metallic Grey is much much better than in pictures .i was skeptical of the colour but on the other side it simply looks amazing !! The phone is fluid and furiously fast ! And as expected the 1080p IPS LCD is sparkling !!! If you are coming from any other phone the first difference you feel is the touch !! The touch is brilliant to say the least ! ultra responsive !!! Battery not tested as sufficient charge cycles not available . Tested Antutu :- 34k and a couple of GFX , Quadrant , Chainfire and other benchmarks of which the results are expected. Was not able to test the network as I don’t have a mini-SIM yet. Their are no problems with the SIM trays (in my phone atleast ! ).

On the first looks the device is worth every single penny spent !!! Detailed review once further usage data available But all in all a brilliant experience . And its miles above many of the very high priced rivals !!!

By the earlier pictures posted i was expecting the device to be humongous !!! but in reality the size turned out to be awesome !!! If you have previously used LG Large sized phones then size won’t be an issue at all. Another difference i felt is it is not at all heavy !! also its pretty sleek and looks awesome on the outside. Having speakers at the bottom could be an issue while landscape gaming as your fingers would be on speakers . However if you are habitual to Headphones it would not be an issue at all !!

Mitra let me use it for a day ! Things like battery etc etc can only be determined after a day’s usage with sufficient charge cycles . I will update the detailed review in Dost and Dimes
