SO guys i bought this gift card from amazon http://www.amazon.in/Axis-Bank-Gift-Card/dp/B00...

Shipping was quick and i received it in 2 days of order .
After receiving card i wasnt able to use it anywhere- made several calls to cc, visited ATM, axis bank branch but none helped at all..

SO wats the procedure -
1) Does it come preactivated-?

Ans- NO we have to activate it, As i said before cc is of no use we can directly mark an email to [email protected] with all card details.

Though i didnot got any reply to my mail but card was activated in 48 hours.

2) How to check balance?
Axis Bank provides you the facility of Balance Enquiry on your Smart Pay Card through ATM & Internet Banking facilities. The Axis Bank Smart Pay Card Kit contains an Internet Banking PIN, an ATM PIN. & a Telebanking PIN.
For checking Balance & Mini Statement Internet Banking
Go to the Axis Bank Home page.
Select Prepaid Cards option in Internet Login Tab options.
Enter your Prepaid card number for login ID
Enter the WEB PIN provided for login password.
You may now check the mini statement and balance on the card along with various other service options.

3) Most Imp question-
Can it be used online??

ANS- yes , it can be used on sites with VBV supported websites which i guess coves all sites.

The Axis Bank Smart Pay cards can be used for making purchases online at VBV (Verified by Visa) certified merchants’ websites.
Prepaid Card Usage:
When you visit any shopping website, choose the payment option as Debit Cards.
Enter the Prepaid Card number, Expiry Date, & Registered E-mail address as requested.
Once you submit the request you are taken to the VBV password verification page, enter the VBV password* as generated by you.
*VBV Password Generation Process:
As a first time user, you would be required to register as a VBV card user and set an online payment password for all future purposes.
Once the payment gateway takes you to “VBV Registration Page” the user would be asked to enter the ATM Pin, Expiry Date & Registered E-mail address as a first time registration process.
Once registered & you set a password, your VBV registered Password can be used for all future online transactions.

4) Does it work with payumoney?

Ans- yes i used on foodpanda, payumoney while making payment
I also made transaction on goibibo for HOTEOSS coupon offer

@DealSeeker I may be changing my mind back again thanks to axis. My rs 2000 card I bought over 15 days ago has not yet been activated. Not even going to try the 5k one as it’ll be a futile exercise. The solutions here didnt work for me as I don’t have axis account and even though I have another axis card which got activated and working, I still cant find the username so I could add more cards.

But not giving up hope yet. I know the cards will work sooner or later. Gonna give the 2k one another week or two before filing for AtoZ claim. Thats the only saving grace. Worst case scenario, your money was stuck for a month or so. Not sure what happenned this month. Ive gotten a few axis cards from amazon between my first and the last one and all of them worked great. Got activated within days of delivery. Lets hope for the best.

Yep, that’s exactly my logic. By the way, whenever this issue gets fixed, don’t forget to create an account at the VBV portal to avoid this issue when it happens again in the future. I have perhaps been fortunate enough to never receive an unactivated card from Amazon. I always get the card activation SMS the same day it gets shipped and I have bought a lot of these cards so far (20+). Even the one I bought from Rediff (GCI) got activated promptly after calling GCI.

Everybody is talking about the same issue — just different situations, as some people have a real debit card from Axis and there is way out for such people. Assuming you don’t have an account with Axis bank, I have already mentioned your options for you. Hope everything is clear now.

There is something that I suggested to one dimer who I know well enough (of course, only based on my conversations with him). But I can’t suggest that to you because (1) it involves huge risk, (2) I don’t know you well enough, and (3) you might not to be able to find someone to help you with it (required).

I can feel your pain and frustration, bro. You can always suggest that person to use the gift card at physical stores. The prepaid gift cards work like debit cards (without the ability to withdraw money at ATMs) so he will only need the ATM pin for transactions at POS locations.

As you probably read many times by now, this VBV issue impacts only online usage of the card.

one more solution is there.. in the mean time they fix this issue u can go to the nearest axis bank and apply for a new SB a/c and get an axis debit card within 7- 10 days.. create vbv account succesfully and add ur gift cards to that account…!!

also many people have 20 to 30 k ( some like me have more than a lakh) value of cards blocked in this vbv issue…

hence i would suggest this for them

A friend of mine has an AXIS DC with VBV registered. So, I can add AXIS cards to his account. But what if the cards are not activated at all? The last two cards (2K each) I bought from Amazon were not activated at all.

Unable to DO VBV.
I bought 3000 axis bank from amazon last month.It came preactivated with all pins and when I check in the axis bank site it gives balance as 3000 and says card active.
Below is my login page which shows my card balance with card status as active :

I have also received an unactivated card for the 2K card order. This unactivated card finally broke my fortunate streak. As pointed out by @merebaap right above your post, let’s contact the seller and Amazon as well (because the seller is probably swamped with support requests) to get the card activated.
