@A2Zdeals There has not been much good news from the Olympics Arena with all the medal hopes crashing out one after the other. Only medal hopes as of now are from PV Sindhu as she is semifinals now after defeating World No.2 Wang Yihan of China and Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt. India now has only five days left to win that elusive medal from these Games, otherwise, for the first time since 1992, it will return medal-less. The high of London four years ago is turning into disaster in Rio de Janeiro.
Though there has been several notable mentions like Dipa Karmakar, Dattu Bhokanal, Lalita Babar etc. I was very sad to see Saina Nehwal crash out in her second group league encounter itself. I felt that she was not as fit as earlier due to her imjury.
Despite her 10th finish in the final, Babar’s effort was still the best performance by an Indian in a track event after PT Usha’s fourth-place finish in the 400m hurdles in 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

Dattu Bhokanal finished 13th overall in the men’s sculls event. This was the best ever performance by an Indian rower at the Olympics – the previous best being a 16th place finish by Swarn Singh Virk at the 2012 London Olympics. How he came from a drought village to Army and then had to see so much water for the first time in his life when introduced to Rowing, his debt ridden family, his efforts, his mental strength even after his mother met with an accident, competing & qualifying for the Rio Olympics. Dipa Karmakar’s entry to Olympics Gymnastics made people notice that it is possible for Indians too. She has performed beyond our expectations and has finished a very remarkable 4th place though it was very sad to see her miss the bronze medal by 0.15 points. Words can’t express much but i feel proud that she made some of our young generation to become interested in Gymnastics too. She made people from other countries to stand up and take notice that their is this girl who might be a deterrent to our medal hopes. Her Death Vault Produnova made her get the best score & almost win a Olympic medal. Even Adam Gilchrist, Sachin Tendulkar & others heaped praises on her. Read her story to find out more about her as i am not the best person to judge her but can only admire her efforts & praise her.

@gambitrite Just today afternoon I was reading about Produnova named after Yelena Produnova considered as the Vault of death, the most difficult one. She had to rely on that to score points, had there been better infrastructure she could have got a Gold. Well let’s hope that she gets the required support and infrastructure so that she could atleast win a medal in the next Olympics.

But she is already 24 now, at the peak of her age where she has the strength & flexibilty along with the experience but expecting her to do the same at the next Olympics will be asking too much of her. Just check Simone Biles who is 19 years old, she literally was unbeatable and at the next Olympics, she will have more experience & more tricks in her kitty. Check her gravity defying physics video,

Another definite prospective medal for India from Badminton, PV Sindhu defeated Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in straight sets 21-19 21-10 to reach the Olympics final. She scripted history by becoming the first Indian shuttler to reach the finals of the women’s singles competion. The 2nd set was spectacular to watch. So another medal assured for India, either Gold or SIlver. She will be facing Spain’s Carolina Marin, currently ranked No. 1 and she will prove to be a tough opponent. Wishing her the best of luck & wishes. Let’s all hope that she brings Gold medal.

@A2Zdeals Bad news indeed. Don’t know whether if he is right or wrong. A proper investigation has to take place to find the truth. At the end of the day, It is a Bad day for IOA as well as a bad mark against the nation (even though the truth might be revealed later).
