Hello Friends, It had been almost 8 months when I had started selling on Ebay and I must say its lot of fun.I had started this business on ebay after passing my engineering entrance and I must say it is the best part time job in India.I will not share my ebay id otherwise it will be considered self promotion by the Dimers.
After reading the thread made by Wikipedia,I come to know that dimers are still noobs in ebay selling, so I decided my make my own thread and help other dimers who want to start their business on Ebay.As I have a good experience of selling and also have contacts with higher authorities of ebay,I am sure I can provide solution to any problem relating to ebay selling.
Hope my thread is not against any policies of Desidime.
Some tips for becoming a good seller on Ebay :-
1.Treat your customers like a new born baby,you must always agree with their views.Also don’t lose your temper easily, you temper will destroy your business and reputition on Ebay. 
2.Always be ready to process refund for the item you sold.There is a possibility that the item may get stolen or damaged in the transit.Ebay is not responsible for any kind of damage done by your Logistic Services. 
3.Item sold must be shipped within 48 hours and shipping details must be provided to the buyers.When buyers see the shipping details they get excited and start thinking about the product in their dreams. 
4.Don’t argue with your buyers if they want to return the product.Always make them feel that their money is safe and also your policy should be to provide money back or replacement in case of a return for atleast 7 days after the product is delivered. 
5.Avoid the situation of Ebay Claims, as ebay will never takes side of a seller. 
Ebay Powership :-
Ebay powership, as everyone here must know is the Logistic Service provided by ebay in which ebay orders are shipped through 1st Class Courier Companies such as Fedex ( My Favourite ) , Bluedart and Aramex.
This service is only provided to the sellers with more than 97 % positive feedback with min. feedback of 50.To enroll in this program a user must sign up an agreement with ebay.Ebay provides his packing material at Rs.2 per packing ( Small , Medium or Large ).The powership charges within the city are Rs.29 ( including taxes ) and for National Delivery the rate is Rs.45 ( including taxes ) for 500gms parcel.
Pros :-
1.Most of the parcels are delivered in 2-3 days and ebay live tracks the delivery of the parcel, so no need of buyer to confirm receipt,means fast re-emittance.
2.Parcels are handled very carefully as they are sent through Top Class Courier Companies.
3.Even if any damage takes place in transit, full amount of the damaged product is paid by Courier Company.
4.Home Pickup Service is awesome.Just mark the item ready to ship and make a call to your LSP.They can even pick your parcels in the midnight, if you order them too.
5.Fast shipping discount is also provided by ebay if item is shipped in 48 hours of transaction.
6.Delivery time extends from 5 days to unlimited.
Cons:-
1.Many times a parcel is weighted wrongly and it takes much time to get your money back.
2.Many parcels travel in volumetric weight instead of original weight,means you have to pay much more.
3.If even the buyer lives in your neighbourhood you have to ship the item through powership.
4.You cannot sell recharges as if recharges move to powership category it will be necessary to ship them. 
5.Many categories are not supported under powership.For them you have to ship through your own tie-ups.

@ashik bhai……Aramex is rocking in faridabad…Also all parcels shipped by me via aramex are delivered in 1-2 days time.

Not voted only due to that please write that never ship any item by Aramex else your customer will cry in pain and after that you have to cry and money will be refunded to buyer

There are too many complaints against powership program
The powership is actually poorship. got many items after months with sellers having Powership Now I ask seller before buying about the powership if seller have opted for powership I don’t purchase from him and put him in my blacklisted sellers
If sellers with more than 97 % positive feedback with min feedback of 50 will he Automatically Move to Powership Section or he have 2 enroll for that ???

Sorry drupal but my experience with aramex is nice from the beginning only.I used to get my homeshop18 couriers the next day itself of shipments without any damage.But I agree that they have stolen my Reward Me Samples.

You have to just sign up for the agreement.The application will be reviewed and it can take more than 30days for the powership to get activated on your account as per my experience.This takes time because there are daily hundreds of sellers on ebay apply for powership and each application is reviewed by the ebay team.

You have to pack the item on your own using the packing material provided by ebay and then go to my paisapay and mark item ready to ship.Ebay will give green signal to LSP to pick the item from the registered address and after 3-4 hours,pickup person will come to your house and will pick the item.The shipping details will be automatically updated in the system by the midnight.

not really. i heard that ebay is doing random checks for new sellers. they are asking PODs for random transactions – not on a regular basis though.

Ebay has no right to harass a seller by asking POD again and again.They will only ask POD if they smell something fishy…..For Example : Many dimers have bought recharges from PureDeal.Also many of them have confirmed item receipt and left positive feedback on the same day of purchasing…..PureDeal is definitely in Danger Zone….Ebay can anytime ask him to show proof of delivery….

Bro, you can make profit by keeping an eye on the jaw dropping deals from Shopclues,Exclusive Deals from Croma Retail and Home Appliances deal from Star Cj.Hope you understand what I am pointing to……

Not sure if many are aware here but i was a part time seller 4-5 years back along with a group of friends.
we were a power seller. made about 1 lakh sales per month. stopped it as we had final exams and ofcourse got jobs later
here is what we could make when we sold:
Item cost 20
Final value fee 5
Paisapay fee 4
Service tax 1.17
Courier 35
packing 5
Total Cost 70.17
Selling Price 100
Profit 29.83
This is a rough estimate and there are various points to note here.
i havent included the listing cost here which is 1/ per item for 7 days.
and if you have any shop, you have to pay accordingly ranges from 250/ to 4000/- per month
-does not include your internet cost, stationary like printer etc. etc. that you use
-does not include staff salary if you had (3 of friends did this so we didnt really employ any one)
-sourcing cost (if i have to travel somehwere to procure items, i have to add the fuel cost/transport cost till it reaches my destination)
-rent for premises if exclusively being used for this purpose (we did this in our friends room)
-provision for returns/damages/losses etc.
all the ebay fee etc. mentioned above are the prices when i sold 4-5 years back. now they have changed many things, increased and not decreased though
if you look at the profit on item cost, its like more than 100%. but on selling cost, its 30% excluding the costs that i indicated above.
above all, this calculation is for a low cost item. so dont consider the same profit % for high value items, as a 1g gold coin would still incur lesser courier fee. and it depends on the weight/size of the item as well, where courier fee and packing cost depends on that.
i used to sell only low value items as we were students and didnt want to take risk.
while we could earn a bit, its not that great, i could say on the whole we made about 10%-15% profit. But due to turn over, we made about 10k profit per month shared by 3 of us, which is an okay additional pocket money for us at that time.
the same items that we sold were being sold for real high prices from some of other sellers, but they had complaints too.
so overall, if you are occassional seller charging really high prices, you can make profit. and also, if you are a regular seller with huge turnover, then also you can make profits.
from a buyer stand point, i would say, do not buy low value items from ebay as due to the costs indicated above, overall costs come higher to the seller. and if you have smart buyers like us, they may take you for a ride in the form of returns/warranty/claims etc., ebay has strong buyer protectin policies (not seller friendly at all). so you will loose some amount due to over-smart buyers.
from one of the current seller, i came to know power ship is not a good option if you have low weight items as the minimum weight will be an issue. and also if you are combining more than one orders, its an issue as, per powership, you have to have separate docket numbers. i am not completely updated on ebay policies and procedures, but get to know certain stuff as i interact with some sellers to buy things (on the receiving end now )

Technically, you cannot really question ebay on why they are asking POD.

i guess there are many on DD – either online or offline.
i tried this once to have part time income but not worth it keeping stock and all, blocking money etc.
if immediate transactions possible, then can go for it. otherwise, you have to keep taking orders from known people which i didnt like as they will see me as a marketing guy
OP – you can write one more con about powership which i read somewhere on a blog or may be on ebay community board.
if a buyer mis-spells city name, powership wont pick that and you have to use alternate channel like your own courier. so powership is not the only medium for you, and you still have to maintain your own courier (ofcourse, for non-coverage locations by powership this is still an issue)
