I bought gold ornaments for around 2.61 Lakhs totally today, i mean technically yesterday
not like those crazy people who buy 51 coins on single purchase xDDDDD
hmm first swipe i mean when i reached bill counter after seeing my 5 credit cards on my hand they quickly shown me some offer on wall for HDFC which was displayed there on a very small printed banner (i forgot to take a photo of banner on phone sadly) and then employee said if you have HDFC CARD (so not sure its for credit only maybe debit too don't know for sure) give it first saying first swipe on HDFC as preference dont know why the staff asked it first, only conclusion is first swipe:) also that staff said something like first swipe too i kinda heard that before they swiping my card on their POS machine
so which is why i told first swipe
hmm regularly runs 2% on online stores ah?? hmm good to know:) well saravana stores also now got added to it i guess:) BUT IN OFFLINE:) HEHEHE
my opinion
you are talking about 2% + card rp savings, but you paid for making charges, means lost so much money
if you know when you will buy gold, then take scheme 11 or 12 months before na, then you can save more money, no need to pay for making charges(here upto 18% )

well let me tell my history a bit:P xD
1) the thing is my family is traditional mindset they never trust Gold shop SCHEMES:) so i am bound to follow them(family) 
or else i would have tried this schemes of Gold shops.
2) Also I am into stock market (if i didnt had exposure to stock market i would have tried gold schemes of gold shops, sadly i already have my skills in stock market) hehehe
Then when i got educated to the knowledge of now:) i become aware that its not good to go with Gold schemes blindly.. instead i would place that money in stock market AND EARN MORE THAN WHAT THIS GOLD SHOP GOLD SCHEMES OFFERS hehehe and then bet my way for my purchase of gold;) using it:) ((this is risky i know not for the weak, but i kinda know my way in stock market as i am already a small investor:) hehehe))
Side note: RBI already said Gold Schemes under ANY JWELLERY SHOP DONT FALL UNDER GOVT. AND RBI. (so in reality this gold schemes are worst than grey area xD if the shop shuts then our gold money vanishes in thin air like poor stocks in stock market)
Personally so its blind trust I can't do with gold shops, but i can do that blind trust with stock market ... i dont know why xDDDDD I am weird xD:)
so i am okay with paying making charges and wastage charges since i earn more by other ways than from Gold shop schemes to compensate things
but ya i get you:)
i hate stock market as of now(i don't want to share why), may be in future i will start again, idk,
any way my better half is taking care of that stock market head ache present
me - credit cards/dc, gold, regular recharges and bills payments, daily needs purchases etc
Dont worry wont ask about anything about your exposure to stock market:) but when you want to share do share them:)
Let me tell you simple rules of stock market xDD that will ease your mind:)
1) Never think PAPER LOSS IS REAL LOSS
2) Never check price daily, weekly or monthly, just check them at best 6month once:) dont worry STOCKS WONT DIE without food to feed them:P
3) Never watch YouTube videos related to stock market BEFORE YOU PUT YOUR OWN MINDSET FIRST
4) Never Copy anyone (you are you , you are unique right?)
5) Never Trust Any SO CALLED Tips
6) Never Follow ENEMIES AND FRIENDS BLINDLY ON STOCK MARKET
7) Never BET AGAINST MARKET (i.e moving against the river, it is possible BUT WILL BE VERY HARD)
8) Never COMPARE WITH SOMEONE YOU KNOW ON RETURNS (you are you and they are them)
9) Never TRY TO BEAT MARKET (just match market returns thats enough then you did your part right)
10) Never GET YOUR WINS TO HEAD AND DISCLOSE LOSS TO OTHERS (as its no use, waste of time)
11) Never PUT ALL EGGS IN ONE BASKET
12) Never think based on others:) NOTHING IS WRONG IN STOCK MARKET

I saw someone buy 51 coins in a single purchase. People are crazy.
Hdfc regularly runs this 2% with grt but only for online purchases. News they are doing this offline. Although I don't understand the offer you are talking about.
