http://www.indiatimes.com/news/india/hyderabad-... Leading e-commerce portal Flipkart was taken for a ride by a Hyderabad youth, who is said to have duped the company for over Rs 20 lakh. The youth, Veera Swamy, 32, of Vanasthalipuram in the city allegedly duped the company by booking orders and returning the goods upon delivery. He would place the orders for valuable electronic items in the name of mother, father, wife, brothers and other known people in the neighbourhood. After the items were delivered, he would call up the call centre complaining that the goods delivered were of poor quality. When the company would send representatives to pick them back, he would retain the actual item received and would stuff fake items in the box, writing the model number and item code as received. He is said to have created fake email IDs and made bank payments through different accounts. The money would be returned to respective accounts once the goods reach the Flipkart dealer. Veera Reddy is found to have made more than 200 purchases in different names in the last 20 months. Thus, the company claimed to have incurred a huge loss of over Rs 20 lakh as per the complaint lodged by the company Hyderabad representatives with the Vanasthalipuram police. "We are verifying the contents of the complaint and the accused version", confirmed Vanasthalipuram police inspector P Pushpan Kumar who is investigating the case. hope the delivery guy isn’t the real culprit – swapping real item with fakes in transit

" Due to extremely buyer friendly practices of these online sites there is a huge potential for buyers to cheat sellers. These kind of cases were rare a year ago but I’ve seen a rising trend. As buyers are getting more comfortable buying online and as they are understanding how it works they’ve figured out how easy it is to game the system. These cases are not a lot right now but its growing and if something is not done about it there will be a lot of problems in the future."

I think we, dimers should also take some blame in this.
Over the past year i have seen a lot of referrals, tricks and bugs instead of the normal offers given by websites.

It’s been long time since I have returned any product to Flipkart but as my memory serves me right I remember I use to get refund the same day on which I returned the product to ekart guy. And always he use to open the box and check condition of the product before giving me receiving recipt.

once I received a different size of a shirt ordered from myntra, and I returned it in the normal return procedure on the app without taking approval from them. And then the story started , I was not given refund over next two days after which I contacted them and it took good three weeks for them to get convinced that the item has been properly returned. So when Myntra can do this for a garment I do not believe Flipkart will be so careless when it comes to costly goods worth twenty lacs. It can be a Flipkart employee who might be involved specially at the collection level.

myntra guys don’t give receving receipt, they just take our signature on their list of pick ups. Anyways I got the complete refund. My point is that no consumer can do a fraud worth 20lacs without any Flipkart employees being involved

Bro I got your point. I am not disagreeing or agreeing to it. But what I wanted to say that if you had got the receiving recipt it’s a solid proof which they can’t deny. Even in my case to myntra logistics guy told me that he forget to bring the receiving book so I refused to give him my clothes and asked him to bring the recipt than only I can return the product. But he requested me to give the clothes and he will give me the receipt in the evening. So I agreed and in evening he gave me the recipt

Nice info, in fact I never knew that Myntra logistics has a system of receipt. Next time I am sure gonna ask the same
