@nifty11 You didn’t mention whether you are flying domestically or internationally. Anyway, with Diners Club, you basically have two choices at both the terminals — Plaza Premium and Above Ground Level.

Since this would be your first time, I would recommend you to go well in advance. If you can manage to get at least 90 minutes after clearing the security check, then you can try both the lounges. Assuming you are flying domestically, both the lounges are located opposite Gate 1 on the mezzanine level. They are right in front of each other. But you’d need to go down to the ground floor and then take another elevator/set of stairs to go from one lounge to the other.

Now to answer your questions/doubts, no pre-booking is required. You just walk to the reception and hand over your credit card. For Plaza Premium, there is usually a constant stream of passengers walking-in, so they don’t bother checking the boarding card.

As for the differences between both the lounges, they have pretty much similar food options for breakfast. But I like the ambience at AGL better. Moreover, their live desserts counter is their USP. CC @cybertechie

Enjoy!

When it comes to free things or things that we feel entitled to because we pay a certain annual fee/spend a certain amount, how can anything ever be sufficient for a dimer? https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_lol.gif https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif CC @Magus

On a serious note, I encouraged him to try both the lounges as this was going to be his first ever experience with airport lounges. So if he tries both the lounges now, he would be able to judge both and form an opinion about them. Then he can simply visit his preferred lounge the next time he travels.

BTW, I am guessing you have only visited the Plaza Premium lounge, correct?

Thanks for tagging me. I have visited Plaza premium lounge in Bangalore couple of times and found them okay except the poorly maintained washroom fittings.I remember entering the lounge around 4.00am in the morning and i believe i was the only person there at that time https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_biggrin.gif . They did serve some cheese omelette and fruit juice. I love the comfortable sofa’s they have in Plaza premium lounge. For me the best Plaza premium lounge is in T3 terminal, New delhi. They are on a different level with a bar, massage counter and buffet menu.

Have you ever got a chance to board from Trivandrum international airport( new one)? They have some excellent expensive recliners in there which will put you to sleep in no time.

Yeah, the breakfast options at PP Bangalore are quite good (Dosa, Upma, pancakes, omelettes, etc.).

As for the PP at T3 Delhi, I happen to have made 4 trips to that lounge within the last two weeks and found the food so-so. I mean they keep things hot and full, but I totally dislike the fact that they don’t have any Indian breads (Paratha, Roti, Chapati, Naan, etc.) to go with food. The only alternative is their Kulcha Matar, but there is usually a queue at that counter and I seldom have the time to wait so much before catching a flight. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

By the way, I usually find the temperature inside the PP lounge at T3 Delhi a little too warm, especially around the dining area i.e. the seating places on the right side of the bar. Seems like their kitchen exhausts are not working properly.

Haven’t been to the new Trivandrum airport yet. Try the AGL lounge at Bangalore. You’ll like the change as compared to PP. And they also have superb recliners. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_biggrin.gif

Is AGL lounge access a part of premier miles offer?

After moving to Bangalore, I don’t opt for flights unless i really have too. I hate to travel to airport from my residence( BTM layout). It’s a good 45 kms from where i stay. For short domestic travel , i stick to Luxury buses these days. Find them very comfortable for 5-10 hours journey.

AGL works with Priority Pass and Diners Club cards.

I hear you about the crazy distance/traffic we have to go through to get to the airport in Bangalore. Can’t wait to get Delhi-like connectivity here via the metro. I still remember the shock I got when I took the Delhi airport metro for the first time and reached T3 from the NDLS station in only about 20 minutes. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_biggrin.gif

@DealSeeker Can’t compare Delhi infrastructure with Bangalore. It;s miles ahead. I use to stay pretty close to Delhi airport. it takes just 10 mins to reach airport from my home.

It’s not a big deal to get access to Lounges. All you need to do is to get hold of some debit/credit card offering lounge access. Even some debit card these days offer Lounge access. Take the below card as an example. For 499, you get lounge access plus a host of other offers. https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif

Ah, bro, frequent travel is only exciting for the first year or so. If your job/work requires you to travel frequently, the charm wears off pretty quickly. And you start to dread the early morning flights, long security check queues, and the sweaty/smelly co-passengers. Not to forget the:

(1) Increased risk for cancer because of the high radiation we are exposed to at the flight altitude.
(2) Health effects because of the dry and low pressure environment inside the planes.

With that said, I still covet business/first class travel for international flights.

The lounges provide a respite in between the travel. But I have been noticing a lot of crowd at the lounges lately. I guess my posts on DD highlighting/encouraging the use of airport lounges are not going to help that situation. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

Let’s not forget that the next time you travel, you’ll also have the IDFC Visa Signature card to let you enjoy the lounges. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_biggrin.gif Ref: https://www.desidime.com/forums/hot-deals-online... CC @cybertechie

Check PM.

I have diners that gives unlimited excess in domestic, and five times international access.

Any card giving unlimited internationally?

One more question in domestic access only one person is allowed per card we have to give card and enter pin they deduct 2-3rs.
Can that card can be used in same lounge by any other family member after 5-10mins??

As they don’t check name on card and boarding pass.

(1) Diners Club Black card provides unlimited domestic as well as international lounge access.

(2) Yes, the lounges require one card per person if you go in a group. But, yes, the same card could be used again after a few minutes. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif

(3) Sometimes, they do check the name on the card with the name on the boarding pass so whatever trick you have in your mind will not always work. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif

AFAIK, both the lounges (for both the domestic terminals) at Mumbai are airside (i.e. after security check).

@kanz Not all airport lounges are after security. Some lounges are before security as well and let’s not forget the lounges outside arrival gates. But, yes, such lounges are mostly accessible only via Priority Pass and are paid otherwise.
