tour for 8 days. But my iPhone 13 pro max 1tb was dead all of sudden without warning. Most likely due to heat no water damage or physical abuse.
I need data since it has all the memories of trip and I did not turned on backup for iCloud.

Now phone is in warranty but apple denying any obligation towards data but will replace device completely since their diagnostic shows motherboard failure.

So how to salvage data? Any juggad? Suggestions? guidance? Is highly appreciated and reciprocated in the form of gift voucher of your liking (Amazon/Flipkart) in tune of 100s multiple.

While I acknowledge and even agree to the trial and error part, my approach to such issues was independent of the specific use case scenario or what goss8877 wants to retrieve.

For all i care, it could be messages detailing how to enrich uranium to make it weapons grade
OR
the script of what 'papa' says to get wars to temporarily halt.

Overall, if data is sandbox in an area (storage) which is not corrupted or damaged, then (at-least theoretically) whatever is encrypted can be decrypted too.

And yes, we do not enforce laws like EU does and we do not force businesses as much as EU does by changing or bringing new laws.. so here, getting such data recovery help 'might' void warranty.
But depending on the level of third party repair, I feel that in some countries it might be a grey area if right to repair laws are a bit fluid.
Apple warranty is giving a replacement and if it is with an unused and new/seal piece then it might be a good deal (although it is ridiculously dampening to loose data permanently.)

Agree, whatever encrypted can be decrypted. But there is also something called value addition. Most repair experts can fix if it's a component level repair/replacement. If it comes to decryption via external provisions, it falls under highly advanced category. While hackers may be able to do, it's Apple if at all who can build the decryption key. And all this involves massive time and efforts. I'm not discouraging but it isn't worth IMO.

Most of the times it is going to be a burnt power management IC or some passive components or a weak pcb track. But we never know until it's opened.

I recently brought a Lenovo yoga pad to its glorious life with a simple decoupling capacitor (2mmx3mm size)replacement. But it took me efforts/time to fix it.

There are data recovery specialists in India working for corporate sector mainly working with HDD. But data recovery from any BGA flash memory is lot  more difficult in terms of skill,  chip schematics and expensive equipments required.

But I see no reason why... How   you can be sure that  your  data on the storage chip is inaccessible. Your phone isn't turning on could be due to plethora of reasons. From common  short , to faulty SMD components,  even a  a dead battery.

So my advice is find a good 3rd party repair Shop who has the necessary skills and necessary equipment ( like microscope to work on tiny electronic chip level SMD components repair, and oscilloscope for electronics diagnosis. Prefer ones who has experience repairing  the exact model of iPhone as yours before. Most of these shops in these days have  also invest in a good thermal camera to easily and quickly find  shorts on any PCB

There's no quick and easy way to determine how good a   electronics repair shop is. But All of the  professional repair with highly trained repair technicians should have those equipments.

And ask them to be careful  not to mess with the motherboard trying to figure out the problem, as  your priority is your data more than fixing your phone's hardware.

If everything fails. You might need to send your phone to  reputed repair/ data recovery service abroad in USA or or Europe.

Check datachef, and it'll definitely costly to recover data. For 500GB sata HDD I got quote of 23k

You can send me your iPhone 13 Pro for repairing, but you will lose the warranty of your phone once it is opened by an unauthorized technician. It's better to forget about data recovery and opt for a replacement motherboard. Data recovery is only possible if the phone becomes operational again, as decryption of data is handled by the CPU. There is no other way to recover the data

are they giving in writing that everything will be recovered? you can go to any local data recovery shop but once you take it to them and they mess up something then even stellar wont be able to help.

An S22 Ultra at my house developed a white band to the right of the camera punch hole and a slight yellow tint on the right 1/3rd of the phone after getting hot following an extended photography session. That phone cost nearly Rs 90k and it was about to complete 2 years. Felt really disappointed with Samsung. At that time I was wondering may be we should considering an Apple since I have never seen their displays with green/pink lines or discolouration. Now seeing the OP's post about a 13 Pro Max dying because of hot weather makes me feel it is best to stick to Samsung but not spend more than Rs 50k.

there are issues in all the electronics including apple. The screen apple uses is generally sourced from multiple sources so as to ensure no disruption in supply  eg. for display it generally relies on 4 of these manufacturers to the best of my knowledge.  LG Displays / Samsung / Japan Display & BOE China . Also this is one of the key reasons why they lag behind with implementation of higher refresh rate and other features . They need to ensure all of their suppliers have equally competent technologies providing same features and have similar quality

My iphone 13 developed a single dead pixel and due to using a Dark wallpaper and Tempered Glass my eyes forever neglected it thinking it to be a miniscule dust particle stuck on tempered glass and not a dead pixel . It became an issue while selling the Iphone whereby the new buyer recognized it  after a day of use and I was not even aware there was an issue with my iphone till I had sold it off.

Moral of the story : iPhone quality can no longer be claimed to be better than any other  manufacturer .  There are stringent QCs in place and all but any electronic component can fail .

The repair costs of iphone is way more than official Samsung repairs. This video is a must watch for understanding repair costs across manufacturers in India

This is a rough idea of what needs to be done to restore your data smile

https://www.iboardrepair.com/post/dead-iphone-d...

The easier approach ( still super complex for most technicians ) compared to the above one would be to remove NAND, CPU, as well as the EEPROM from your non working motherboard and re solder it to a working donor motherboard. Again this is super complex and I am not sure if there are any of these highly trained technicians in India who can do it and provide a guarantee of the work they are doing.

Also both the above approaches mean that you end up voiding your warranty smile

Our unfriendly neighbor could have some better tricks up their sleeves & cheaper rates with highly qualified technicians if you have connects / planning a visit to the once upon a time fishing village which currently manufactures probably 80% to 90% of the electronic components in the world . You can get it fixed there for sure and come back with luggage full of electronics as well.

I paid Rs.12,000 (in cash without GST) to recover data of my CPU's Harddisk...

It was a big company and i requestd them i cant pay big money but i need the data .. so they said give cash and avoid the gst... There was a iphone guy with same issue as yours (he paid 46,000 for the recovery)

1 concept is... As the size keep decreasing the amount you'll pay, increases ...

A harddisk recovery (big size) cost less, but a small memory card recovery costs 2-5× depending uptn the complexity..

Also a SSD costs 5-10× (very expensive)

Hence i was told to never store important data in ssd bcoz its recovery is almost impossible.... Since there is no disk in there .. just sold core! And work on the principles of electrostatic/magnetic domains!

Lesson learnt - always Backup ur data, and if its Very Important , then keep atleast 2 copies of it!
So i brought a Seagate Backup Hardisk(external) and 3 128GB pendrives just to keep "copies only"

Since its comparatively cheaper that paying hefty price just for recovery of data

What's next in future? Recovery from a Quantum storage is impossible then.

I learnt the lesson from my past when i lost my phone ' Just make backup of everything every 15 days '. I made the process automated, for instance- photos and videos backup automatically the moment i click photos or record videos. SMS and call history automatically backup whenever new message and call come in my samsung account. Files automatically backup in my one drive via samsung auto sync process. In case of WhatsApp, I had selected backup once in a month.  For peace of mind, I have made the photos and videos backup directories in my Google account also. So just in case, if something goes wrong with sync in my samsung account or one drive then i would able to retrieve from Google.  Always do backup and plan the alternative backup in advance.

Also my partner isn't picking up my calls since three days nor replying to messages. (Long distance relationship as the person is pursuing masters in another country) and I recently got fired from my main job too.
Might uplift me if I get a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona from you.

Thanks already.

March 31 was world backup day. People should be more aware about keeping backups. I also avoid keeping any important data on my phone so there is less tension when phone is lost or stolen.

I don't think it's possible due to encryption of user data esp. in light of the mobo failure. The decryption key is handled by a microprocessor separate to the general AP. Even if it was possible to mount the NVMe storage separately the user data can't be decrypted as the key is no longer accessible. If there's some hack to break the encryption then only it might be possible. AFAIK.

Had thought of replying to Seinfeld himself, but now after seeing your elaborated post, I wonder what might Jessa and others be doing then.

Maybe things are evolving with newer versions of the operating systems and hardware, but I have definitely come across instances where the phone unlock biometrics or codes were unavailable and data was recovered.

[I am not talking of jailbroken devices or premier hacking softwares used by governmental agencies or security establishment. I am not saying that I saw such revovery for the same model as that of goss8877, but without any NSO group (Pegasus) CIA, R and AW, Intelligence Bureau too there have been instances of data recovery where Apple straight up refused to unlock.]

On some podcast/chat, Jessa Jones (who even recovered all data from Srinivas Kuchibhotla's blood soaked phone) and Louis Rossmann once did mention some Indian businesses/people who are doing their best to help customers here.

Unfortunately my memory fails me as to whether it (them talking) was on their own channels or elsewhere.

You could once individually write to Louis and Jessa.

I think Jessa even says that she charges customers only if the data gets recovered.

I have no animosity with Apple Inc., nor am I an agent for Jessa, Louis or others
but Apple has infamy over such things (data recovery of even in-warranty devices) and even incentivises their staff and the authorised repair centres to demotivate, discourage the users.

They have their youtube channels too, but if you want to write to Jessa and Louis respectively, then ipadrehab.com and rossmanngroup.com are the sites where their contact details can be found.

Both are genuinely interested in helping customers and both try not to withhold information if they have any.
Depending on where you are (in India) you can seek guidance, if you want.
Local businesses in Bombay, Delhi like places often do direct motherboard/chip recoveries too, but I personally have not sought the services and so cannot point to any with confidence.

Sorry to say, but I don't think there's any way to salvage the memories.

One of the reason why having a google/ any other cloud backup on is such a good idea and worth to pay for.

If you can turn it on in any way, it would be possible.

Also can't suggest you to go to any local phone shop as that might void your warranty.

Unsure but Apple stores via any contact if possible, try please, but I doubt even if he will have any control over the procedure.
