Note::Don’t feel that I’m misusing the forum dimers..
My mom has been in icu from past 18 days due to heart arrest and hypoxic brain injury. She’s struggling hard for surviving but due to icu shes getting infections very quickly. Now at yashodha hospitals secunderabad iccu. Kindly help me to save my mom and the billing cost per day is nearly 50-60k i cannot afford so much, till now the bill i paid is around 11 laks and now im really running out of money. I’m about to exhaust and i don’t wanna loose her after all. Please kindly help me by raising your funds or guide me from where i can get the funds or some reference to hospital to reduce the bill or some kind of influence support.

Then it’s better to collect funds when the need arises. As there is no urgency better to wait instead of collecting more funds. Even while giving it’s better to handover to elder brother as he seems more sensible and reliable. I too didn’t believe this case on seeing heart attacker’s previous posts of Uber rides and the reply he gave didn’t seem quite true. If I was in his tight situation as told, I would have gone in a city bus instead of looking for taxis. So finally, as the case is genuine, we are ready to help when the need arises. But better to wait as the case is being treated on cashless basis. The funds can go to much needier people, so better to hold on for now.

From him I understood he got a job recently
2. His elder brother is working with TCS from ~6 years {worklocation and his residence both are near to me}, so I spoke to him as he is a better guy to judge the situation and tell what exactly he/they are looking out for
3. As working in MNC we/he has medical insurance coverage, so when I asked about that he said they paid Rs. 50,000 in advance and the treatment till date is covered under cashless hospitilzation (hope you guys know what that means) upto 8Lakhs. He don’t know how much amount the final bill will shoot upto so he is also worried.
4. Elder brother seems to have got married Jan 25 2015, so he seems to be having budget constraints about taking a loan etc.,My view
Case is genuine, if we don’t care about their financial status (if they can afford or not) then its a GO for us to help instead of wasting time arguing here.
2. I also asked his elder brother, if the total bill is some where around ~10-12 then 8L (Free Cashless hosptilization)+YourMoney should be enough to take care of the expenses
3. In case if the total bill amount is less, than I said him whatever the money you get from DesiDime please transfer it back to some charity or NGO (as per @anthrax.ut) after the full and final settlement to hosptial
4. For few questions like why they joined mother in Yashoda (Because yashoda hospital is too costly in hyderabad)— When she was down the nearest hosptial is it, so they rushed her there.
5. Why heart_attacker selling uber rides and talking about freecharge when mother is in ICU – I too don’t know the answer for this, but when I asked him the same he is also blank so its probably a situation where he couldn’t understand what to do in hospital in his idle time.
6. 13L letter as earlier shown is estimated charge for hosptilization for 30days, the final bill may be high or less than that. Its an estimated cost sheet.Any questions please let me know, I will try to see if I have answers.

To add to this, if he is in real need and its so genuine, the brother who is working in TCS can put it across with his company. TCS is so huge that even small donations, will become a big amount. This is not new to them. My friend who works in TCS keeps donating, so i know TCSers do seek help from other TCSers when there is a need. And here, atleast his project folks and all would know his situation well and will contribute with clear confidence and happiness. As a stranger, I dont know anything. My mind says, better help those who do not have a way to seek money/credit than those who can afford or able enough to get credit. And there is a tata trust for employees as well I believe. They have surely got options.
EDIT: I hv put the above comments not just to validate the facts but also help OP to take a step incase he already does not know this or not yet explored seeking help from TCS.

here is my opinion:
We started the discussion whether the OP case is genuine or not. and then we decided if it is genuine then we should raise the fund and donate him for a great cause. and now discussion is going somewhere else. we are discussing over farmer’s suicide case and people who are unable to seek money.
As @anthrax.ut says world has very limited resources…. and these resources should go to the most needy first
if senior Dimers has confirmed that this is the valid case we should contributes our part direct to the hospital after getting the idea how much bill amount can go further.
there are lots of people here and each is having their own opinion so we may end up just arguing or discussing. better those who donate their fund can give go ahead and Admin can donate the fund.
PS: this is my personal opinion. dont take it otherwise.

It should not be a worry to other Dimers if they are not financially stable. But again one should not say that unnecessary collection of funds and unnecessarily it’s been kept. So what you think will be the best position? I’m not in a position to take a call on this since everything is confusing considering the situation from first

@Achilles has been warning me not to write everything that I opine openly lest I incur the wrath of many dimers around since this has been an emotional episode for many of us. Hence I kept it to myself against my own disposition. But I think it’s time I registered it since many dimers have already begun to think that withholding the donation partly/completely is not a good idea. To get a better view of the picture, I suggest that they apply their emotion and intelligence together to get more clarity rather than making parochial remarks about those who hold a different opinion. And I think I can explain this better since I was one of the first few who actually started communicating between those who were available locally and those who couldn’t reach there but still wanted to know what was happening there and help the person considered in need.

Some dimers suggested places where he can contact NGOs / charity organisations where he can raise funds from. @SmallKing was the first person to justifiably suspect OP because of his recent posts. But OP gave some genuine but silly reasons for his actions, genuine because he was not able to eat properly because of his condition but silly because this was not a sustainable way to earn money for food. @rohankhona asked OP to verify his position by posting Aadhar card and hospital bill details which OP did eventually. But OP never did what @deals44u was asking him to do for a long time i.e. submitting all the required documents to an NGO who can verify his condition and help accordingly. Why? Because nowhere in his posts OP mentioned about his elder brother working for TCS.
Meanwhile @Beinghuman said he could verify the situation with the help of his brother who works in the same city. He had informed OP well in advance about his brother’s visit on Saturday morning. But OP missed meeting him for which he cited various reason later. @Beinghuman got disappointed very much and wanted to get out of the scene. But after OP assured that he would meet anyone who would like to go there thereafter, we regained hope of helping him after assessing the situation.
After some time, OP produced a letter from the hospital administration, which was only one of the many documents @deals44u had asked for. OP did not even answer his repeated questions about why he did not do that which he was being asked to do. Still @deals44u posted his proofs over a fund raising portal looking for collection of funds but later removed it thinking OP might feel bad about his issues being made so widely known.
On Saturday night, @Sudhir G contacted me asking for details about OP’s situation. He said he was just 8 kms away from the hospital and could go there and meet him to know what exactly the situation was. @kamlesharya97753 joined him and they went to the hospital at around 1.30 past midnight. That was the very first time when we could confirm that OP was indeed in a difficult situation. But even then, OP said nothing about TCS or the cashless hospitalization (upto 8 lakhs) his mother was covered by. All we knew that was the estimated bill for a month was more than 13 lakhs and they had “somehow” paid 8 lakhs but were still in need of 5 lakhs.
Once this info spread around, dimers got even more involved discussing the possible ways of helping him. We called @anthrax.ut for help which he so generously accepted and started a dime donation campaign. Still a few things were to be cleared unequivocally. This was when an audio clip of a telephonic conversation between OPs brother and another person known to @Spock was available to many of us for verification. It’s only from that audio that we got to know that OP’s brother worked for TCS. The suspicions grew more.
Sunday afternoon, @SHERLOCKKKK who was a doctor himself visited the hospital and made it clear to us that the health condition of OP’s mother was really critical. (But there was no word about TCS here as well.) This gave momentum to the fund raising campaign and everyone of us decided to collect funds by wallets/bank transfers too. Finally, it was unanimously decided that @Beinghuman would collect all funds and transfer it to @Achilles who would pay at the hospital.
Still, because @Glp insisted that @Achilles should meet OP and reassure him of our help, he visited him last evening. Everyone knows the rest of the story from his own words.
Now.
Is OP’s case genuine? Yes, without a doubt.
Has he done anything wrong? Yes, a lot.
He should not have hidden the important information about TCS and cashless hospitalization. From what I hear, his father owns a small shop and OP has very recently got employed as well. It is true that all their income together is not enough to meet the hospital expenses. But that does not make them so deprived of options for getting money. A simple campaign run within TCS itself could have fetched a lot of money, given the fact that his brother has been working there for 5 years.
OP admits this only now when we mention this after getting info via third parties. But the fact that his brother was not actually looking for any money from other sources tells a lot as well. Even if OP had wanted to assist him financially, he should not have done this by hiding important info and trying to capitalize on the emotions of the majority. Now bringing in the issues of having to repay educational loan and all has no meaning. He should have presented his case very clearly in the beginning itself so that we did not have any hesitation in helping him out.
Even after all this, I don’t say, stop funding him. Those who want to help him can deposit money either in his own account or in the hospital account. But I personally support @anthrax.ut ’s suggestion that the dimes be saved for a larger purpose.
Charity is for those who are not in a situation to even ask for money. They don’t even know the platform on which they have to show up to ask for it. They can’t take a loan from a bank or borrow money from a friend. Many of them are not even educated enough to know how to take a loan or whom to ask. They don’t know what they will do for food next hour. They don’t even know what disease they are suffering from. They don’t even know what to ask for. They die of hunger and disease not because of their errors and lofty desires but because they have been deprived of the fundamental rights of life.
I heard that @deals44u had lost many things in the Chennai floods. Still he gave 1K to this and assured of more help in the time to come. It may be the case with many of us. Let it not be entrusted with someone who has a lot of means to support his family but with someone who was deprived of his very right to live.
Magus, what you have written is exactly true, heart attacker had wronged in asking funds. But I don’t think any person in his situation would have any wrong intention. It may be that he felt he is not supporting his family while the burden is completely on his brother. That too, we don’t know what situation is existing in that family when the elder brother is already married. Whatever the reason, it is wrong to ask for help suppressing the important facts. It’s true that their mother’s health is critical and our prayers should be with them. Regarding funds also, we can think of helping them when the need arises and their own funds or alternate resources are not enough to meet the expenses. For such confirmation, we can rely on his elder brother.
One thing I would like to mention is that, in some situations, the completely poor can ask for help and they get help too because of their condition. But for middle-class people, it really becomes very difficult and they cannot even ask like other desperate people. In such situation we should help them provided that we know their need is genuine. That’s why I am telling not to completely strike off this matter because of OP and in case funds are needed in future, those willing should be ready to help, though I feel that need may not arise because as you said, TCS folks can help them out.

When the treatment is still under cashless scheme, is it ok to transfer funds directly to hospital? I am asking because I really don’t know how these things work. I was under the impression that they’ll treat the patient without any expenses till that specified limit and if extra expenses above that limit are incurred, then only they have to pay them. That too I heard that generally under cashless schemes, they skyrocket the bills unnecessarily.

@whiterose generally 90-95% of claim amount is settled under cashless treatment (expenses for syringes, gloves etc are to be paid by patient) until and unless the policy specifically mentions that these expenses will also come under the policy.
As soon as the amount gets over 8L the hospital administration will force them to deposit amount.
And yes the expenses in mediclaim settlement are hiked upto 150% than normal charges.
Wow logged on to dd to see the twists and turns which have taken in this case. I don’t know what ops exact age is but seems a 22 or 23 year old kid. While I don’t expect u to be responsible enough like your brother but still u would be responsible enough to understand ur actions right. Im from accounts background and what u did out here was window dressing. I’m not saying your financial position is good or great but the way u went on hiding the things and even defending those make all our efforts seem a little too much. I do hope for a speedy recovery for your mom and hope that u learn something from the entire episode which has played out. I know ur tense for your mom and what u did maybe was not fully wrong keeping myself in your place but still I guess it doesn’t sound good when u hear the truth from someone else. And for the rest of the stuff we are still with u and ur family and hope ur mom gets a speedy recovery. And kindly do involve ur elder brother to handle everything relating to donations to speaking to dimers because he seems more matured than you are.

who cant even purchase full medicines , i have seen alot people in medicine shops bcz medicine was expensive they only Buy 3 or 4 tablets .
MANY poor people cant undergo the little surgery[which cost ~ 10-30k] which can change their Life
MANY women/old people ONLY buy medicines when their Old-age pension comes like 500/1000rs .
which doesnt even cover the whole expense .
Just compare the 2 scenario and Lock this all drama for Good . The collected money can still b donated and stuff etc .

Guys Guys chill out whatever it is, we have helped and that’s it, there it ends. We don’t want to bring the OP because just think from his situation how difficult it would have been. He might be wrong but no need to mention in every Single post as it might hurt him since the request was genuine and he did not try to cheat like others – really I can’t think off his situation but he handled it very good and it reminds me of Chennai floods when I sent my mom and my wife in a boat along with little children thinking I might die without help.
