Reliance CDMA and 4G Migration Woes
I’m from Reliance Kolkata CDMA Circle. CDMA service stopped on 24th May .. Now I’ve one ages old Reliance CDMA phone [ Nokia 2112 ] – 10 years and still kicking 
It has In built / Non removable SIM card or It’s a Operator locked phone. Anyway, you can’t put a sim card into this phone. Now I’m not getting any CDMA signal and I want to migrate to reliance 4G. So how am I suppose to keep my number and migrate to 4g ? Because as per Reliance website you need to SMS the 4G sims serial number from your existing CDMA phone :

Recharge your existing CDMA connection with the 4G upgrade recharge. To know the upgrade recharge value please click here .
After recharging, from your existing CDMA SIM, SMS 4G < space > 19 digit SIM number of the new 4G SIM to 1299.
Alternatively, you can also call on 1299 from your CDMA mobile and enter your new 19-digit 4G SIM number. You will get a confirmation SMS about your 4G SIM upgrade.

but if I don’t get network coverage on CDMA phone how am I suppose to send the SMS for migration or even contact reliance CC ?

After recharging with rs 1 you need to get 4g sim from rcom store.

Then 4g data card buying page will open. Price is not same for all users. You will get discount based on your plan.
It is not compulsory to buy data card. You can use sim in any mobile.

Yes, I am going to use that way only. But my sim is not activated yet, old netconnect+ data card is still receiving 1x signal.
I read somewhere that we can use sim for only data usage not for calling purpose. So better to verify with rcom store.
I have broadband at home, so it won’t affect me anyway. It is for secondary use. Just wanted to give it a try and we can port to any network if we don’t find it useful.

the sim is supposed to be activated only after you order and receive the data card.

When i sent my cousin to their shop, they refused to give 4G sim .. they say they want old CDMA number… he failed to remember my old Reliance netconnect + number….same case for all or they are trying to sell something else ?
I know a guy who is saying he got Rel. 4G SIM at Rs. 26 ? He also said no documents are needed to get the 4G sim. One more info : avoid 04/16 made sims as they have data and other connectivity issues. Look for 05/16 sims which are free from such issues.

Go to Reliance webstore and ask for LTE/4G SIM. They will charge Rs.25 and handover a blank SIM. They may ask for the old CDMA number and the name in which it is registered.

Thanks for information. Now the problem is i bought Netconnect broadband + when i was in mumbai. Now i’m in karnataka. Number is registered in my relatives name who are still in mumbai, in same address. Do i have to get the sim from mumbai itself or if i take 4G sim from here (as you said) and upgrade it then i’ll still get the 10GB free data for 30 days + Discount for New Data card ?

SIM is circle specific. You need the SIM to be issued from the same circle. In my case, I had to get 2 SIMs from Delhi though an associate and get it couriered to Kolkata as I was on roaming.

My cousin visited nearest reliance mobile store in mumbai for few times and they said due to huge demand they don’t have 4G sim for upgradation! Any dimmer from mumbai help me on this?

those who are having issues connecting to internet on 4G sim please check if its from April lot… If yes then just to to any nearest Reliance store and get it patched… it takes less than a minute and everything starts working…

I got call from reliance store that datacard will stop working in 1 week
but he told that prices for dongles depends on customers to customers. for some customers they are giving dongle free.

it will be hard to get refund but you send a mail to CC that they not shipped the order in 1 week so you are cancelling it.
wait for 2 days else then send that mail to card for dispute.
