A woman’s experience with burns . . .

Some time ago I was cooking some corn and stuck my fork in the boiling water to see if the corn was ready.

I missed and my hand went into the boiling water….

A friend of mine, who was a Vietnam vet, came into the house, just as I was screaming, and asked me if I had some plain old flour…

I pulled out a bag and he stuck my hand in it.

He told me to keep my hand in the flour for 10 minutes which I did.

He said that in Vietnam, there was a guy on fire and in their panic, they threw a bag of flour all over him to put the fire out…

Well, it not only put the fire out, but he never even had a blister!!!!

… Long story short, I put my hand in the bag of flour for 10 mins, pulled it out and did not even have a red mark or a blister and absolutely NO PAIN.

Now, I keep a bag of flour in the fridge and every time I burn myself. *Cold flour feels even better than room temperature flour.

I use the flour and have never ONCE had I ever had even a red spot/burn mark, or a blister!

I even burnt my tongue once, put the flour on it for about 10 minutes ….the pain was gone and no burn.

The Best Natural Ways to Keep Spiders Away.

While most of them don’t harm humans, and even fewer are poisonous, spiders are still not something I like seeing around my house, especially not a nest. Chemical pesticides might help in getting rid of them, but I prefer natural, less expensive, and less toxic, ways to protect my home from these little pests. If it’s in your kitchen, your bedroom or your garden, you are much better off using these natural ways to keep spiders out of you lives:

Take care of spider hideouts:
Spiders often go under the nearest thing around when they try to escape from you, it’s a strong instincts to hide in smaller places where they are safe from their predators, and from you. What you need to do is to remove as many of these things as you can, simply keep your home well organized.

Regular cleaning:

In addition to organizing your house cleaning it on a regular basis will ensure that there are no spiders in your home. This will not only help you even more in removing their hideouts, but also get rid of a lot of their food supply. Thorough vacuuming once a week, letting your garbage stay full for a long time and cleaning the insides of cupboards and drawers are all highly recommended.

Seal those annoying cracks:
Cracks in your walls are the ideal places for spiders to get inside your home, hide from you and breed. Check all of your interior and exterior walls for cracks and holes, if you find any, just cover them and the spider menace will have no way to enter your home.

Vinegar:

This is a great non-harmful, non-toxic and highly effective way to keep spiders and many other insects out of your life. The small from just a few teaspoons of vinegar mixed with water is enough to keep spiders away.

Peppermint:

Another great natural insect repellent is peppermint oil. It is non-poisonous and smells better than vinegar. While it doesn’t have a long lasting effect, it should be no problem to spray some peppermint oil mixed with water around your windows, doors and cracks once a week.

Baking soda:
Spiders are very sensitive to the smell of baking soda powder and it’s a great thing to use if you can’t, or don’t want to, use a liquid repellent. Sprinkling a little bit of baking soda around your home will keep spiders away and can be easily cleaned by a vacuum cleaner.
Cedarwood chips:

Another non-liquid solution for spiders and moths is to sprinkle some cedarwood chips outside your home, as well as in cupboards and wall corners. A big plus of this method in my opinion is that a bowl of cedarwood chips is also a very nice decorative item, something you can’t say about chemical pesticides.

Cats:

Nature’s own pest protectors. Cats will happily pounce on spiders and do the work for you. They are also the cutest possible way to deal with this problem. These is no need to worry about your cats eating them, these little fur balls know how to take care of themselves just like they know how to take care of your home. You might need to clean all that fur, but it’s much better than spiders…

Chestnuts:

Place chestnuts on window sills or baseboards in order to deter spiders form getting in. It is another way that is both effective, and adds a little decorative charm to your house. Your friends will definitely ask you about it, and will be amazed and delighted to hear about your brilliant way of keeping your house free or spiders.

Citrus oil:

One of the best smelling and longest lasting natural spider repellents. Add a few teaspoons of citrus oil to a spray bottle with a glass of water and use it on walls, windows and cracks. It’s easy, it’s natural and you will be free from spiders for a long time.

While toilets tend to get cleaned frequently, because people associate the bathroom with germs, mobile phones and other commonly handled objects — like remote controls— are often left out of the cleaning routine.

Mobile phones pick up germs all the time, Gerba said. “I see people talk on their phone on toilets.”

However, the amount of germs on a phone isn’t a problem — it’s the sharing of phones between people. Without sharing, each phone carries just one set of germs, and won’t get its owner sick, Gerba said.

The problem with phones is that we’re in constant contact with them, and they spend a lot of time in close proximity to our faces and mouths. And, because it’s an electronic device, most people are hesitant about cleaning them.
